22 SURVIVORS IN AUSSIE MILLIONS POKER
25 January 2008
Remaining players can almost taste that $1.65
million winner's prize....
Day 3 of the Aussie Millions Main Event has ended with
22 survivors moving to the next level and a chance at
the $1.65 million winner's prize and other paydays as
the money bubble was reached with the 80th elimination
at the Crown Casino in Melbourne.
The 98 players from Day 2 started the day with Matthew
LaGarde heading the chip counts, and some formidable
opponents intent on reaching the final table. Internet
stars Tom 'durrr' Dwan and Kevin 'BeLOWaBOVe' Saul,
together with pros like Mike Matusow, Jeff Lisandro,
Erik Seidel, Kenna James, Erick Lindgren and Andy Black
were all still in contention.
Matusow and Lisandro were early casualties, busted out
before the money bubble was breached, and once this had
occurred the pace picked up with several more big name
exits including the two Internet stars and Erik
Lindgren, Perry Friedman and Matt Matros.
When the field had been reduced to 36 players, the
tables were redrawn to six-handed format, with Andy
Black heading for the rail in 34th place following a
clash with Erik Seidel and Matthew LaGarde bundled out
by Peter Ling in 26th place, at least drawing a decent
$40 000 payout.
The organisers called it a night when the field was down
to 22 players with the popular local player Antonio
Casale firmly in the lead with 1 513 000 in chips - well
ahead of Nico Behling on 1 306 000.
