FIRST DAY FLIGHTS OF AUSSIE MILLIONS COMPLETED
18 January 2008
Total field of 780 recorded for first three days,
generating a $7.8 million prize-pool
The Aussie Millions Main Event moved into its Day 1C
heat midweek, with another 270 hopefuls taking their
seats around poker tables at the Crown Casino in
Melbourne.
According to statistics released by the organisers, a
total of 780 players have started in Days 1A, B and C,
generating an impressive $7.8 million prize-pool.
Once again, there was a liberal sprinkling of star-power
in the field with Anna Wroblewski, 2007 WSOPE Main Event
winner and Betfair ambassadress Annette 'Annette_15'
Obrestad, Howard Lederer, Chip Jett and Mike 'The Mouth'
Matusow joined by actor Michael Vartan and cricket
legend Shane Warne, who has signed up as a pro with
888.com recently.
Other aces included Tony Hachem, brother of WSOP champ
Joe, David Bach, Jeff 'ActionJeff' Garza, 2006 Aussie
Millions Main Event winner Lee Nelson, 2007 WSOP
bracelet winner Alex Kravchenko and Kenna James.
Wroblewski, Tony Hachem, Nelson, Vartan and Obrestad
were all eliminated in tough exchanges before the end of
the day, whilst the more fortunate survivors included
Kravchenko, Kenna James, Jon Turner, Matt Matros and
Tiffany Williamson, with Soren Eriksen in the chip lead
for Day 1C with 150 000 - a comfortable lead over second
leader Joe Melancon's 120 000.
