U.S. dormant account fees....
U.S. players had insult added to injury last week when
emails from Party Poker started arriving informing them
that the company was charging them a $5 a month dormant
account fee.
Given the situation in the United States, where Party
Gaming unilaterally and rather hastily withdrew from the
market as a result of the Frist legislation that became
the Unlawful Internet Gambling Enforcement Act, this
seems more than a little unjust.
It certainly has the potential to be profitable if
players let Party get away with it; the group had tens
of thousands of American players who may have received
their credit balances but who's accounts were left open,
and that's a lot of $5's every month.
Some players report that the charge was reversed when
they complained to Party's Support, and that may be a
wise course for players receiving these emails to
follow. Despite asking Party Gaming Head Office for an
explanation, as we went to press there had been no
response.
