FERTITTA APPLIES FOR NEVADA ONLINE POKER LICENCE
10 February 2012
Land operator follows up on its acquisition
of Cyberarts last year
Fertitta Interactive, a subsidiary of a US land
gambling company that owns the Station casinos, has
again indicated an interest in the online poker business
by applying for a Nevada online poker licence.
Fertitta was in partnership discussions with a major
online poker company which it dropped after Black
Friday, but subsequently acquired poker software
developer Cyberarts (see previous InfoPowa reports).
In a statement announcing its application to the
Nevada Gaming Control Board, Fertitta Interactive said
it supports regulation for online poker and wants to
offer the game in "a safe and well-regulated online
environment."
Nevada last year approved a bill
that would allow companies to offer online poker within
state borders, and has since developed a full regulatory
system and set of regulations in preparation for the
possible legalisation on online poker at federal level.
Fertitta Interactive joins companies like 888
Holdings, South Point, Bally Technologies Inc., Cantor
Gaming, and International Game Technology in applying
for an online poker licence in Nevada.
