3 February 2012
Chinese New Year a boost for casinos
Macau's Gaming Inspection and Coordination Bureau
revealed a 35 percent rise in casino revenues to 25
billion patacas ($13.1 billion) during the month of
January 2012, largely attributable again to Chinese
mainland tourists and the Lunar New Year holiday.
The former Portuguese enclave has shown a meteoric
rise in casino revenues which have tripled over the past
four years mainly driven by mainland gamblers.
