WHAT CHALLENGE WAS THAT AGAIN?
5 February 2010
After almost a year of desultory action, the
Dwan Challenge surfaces again
If they've forgotten about the long-running Dwan 50 000
hand poker challenge, readers could be forgiven, as the
action started again this week after a break of over a
month...and almost a year since the first clash between
Patrik Antonius and Tom Dwan took place.
Still
barely past the halfway point, the Challenge trundled on
Thursday with Antonius and Dwan playing another 1 256
hands over just more than four hours on four tables of
$200/$400 pot-limit Omaha.
It ended with Dwan up
another $58 781, which brings his overall lead in the
Challenge to $878 490. Antonius, who has had a bad run
on the Full Tilt nosebleed tables recently, looked as if
he had broken his losing streak early in the clash with
Dwan, at one stage being up $200 000, but it was not
sustained, and Dwan fought his way back into contention.
A total of 31 020 hands have now been played of the
50 000 planned in the contest, with Dwan taking the last
few clashes. Biggest pot in the latest confrontation was
a $118 000 taken down by Dwan.
