POKERSTARS CRACKS GUINESS RECORD (Update)
13 February 2009
The world's largest online poker site makes the 35
000 simultaneous player target
The attempt by PokerStars.com to break it's own Guiness
Book of World Records entry for most online poker
players in action simultaneously (see previous InfoPowa
reports) has been successful, with the globally
respected book accepting PokerStars' meticulously
presented records of the event.
PokerStars set a target of 35 000 as a convincing
demonstration of its world leadership in Internet poker,
and grew increasingly confident as registrations for the
big $11 buy-in NLHE event poured in, hitting the cut-off
point well in advance of the actual tournament.
A statement from PokerStars revealed that the
record-breaking traffic created by the attempt saw well
over a quarter million poker players on the website,
straining technological services and taking up seats on
almost 34 000 tables.
