IS LADBROKES AFTER ONLINE BINGO PROVIDER PARLAY?
29 February 2008
Persistent speculation that UK gambling giant is
one of the two remaining bids
Speculation on the fate of Canadian bingo software
developer Parlay Entertainment continued unabated in the
business press over the weekend following the withdrawal
of the Cdn$12.3 million offer by PEIC Acquisitions last
week (see previous InfoPowa report)
Parlay had earlier indicated that it was considering two
other offers, but declined to reveal the identities of
either. Current speculation is that one of the companies
involved in the UK gambling group Ladbrokes, which has
apparently been in talks with the Canadians according to
newspaper reports.
Ladbrokes has been linked to other deals that did not
materialise, the latest with 888.com. One reservation
that has been expressed is that Ladbrokes may shy away
from Parlay's US business activities.
Update: Later in the week whilst presenting the 2007
Ladbrokes numbers, new CEO Ralph Topping discounted
speculation that Ladbrokes was going after Parlay.
