CONFERENCE CORNER
22 February 2008
GIGSE is Malta bound with gathering for the bosses
A change is as good as a holiday, and perhaps one was
due for the major online gambling conference Global
Interactive Gaming Summit and Expo (GIGSE) The
organisers, Clarion Games have come up with a new
direction and a great and very Europe-convenient
alternative venue for 2008 - the Mediterranean island of
Malta.
For the last nine years, GIGSE has thrived as the
premier event for the interactive gaming industry. As
the industry developed, GIGSE has matured to keep pace
and mirror the changing dynamics that drive the industry
and mould it into its current form.
In 2008, GIGSE will evolve into the Global Interactive
Gaming Summit for Executives.
"We've heard from the industry that there's a need for
an invitation-only C-level executive, operator-focused
summit, our own Davos if you will, for the i-gaming
industry as it enters its adolescence," noted Sue
Schneider, CEO of Clarion Gaming Americas.
GIGSE in its new format is designed to bring together
select business visionaries, with a sprinkling of
academic and government leaders. Together, they will
explore the past, present and future of this nascent
industry which is constantly being reshaped by sometimes
surprising changes.
High-profile keynote speakers from outside the industry
are being secured. In addition, a series of
collaborative closed-door discussions, exploring the
critical issues for the industry - as chosen by the
participants - will be a fundamental aspect of the
conference.
The Summit will be targeted primarily to online gaming
operators from around the globe with limited involvement
by suppliers, governments and industry associations.
Attendance will be reserved for invited founders, CEOs,
board members, managing directors and/or selected
C-Level executives and will operate under the Chatham
House Rule.
"This will be an opportunity for candid discussions on
where the industry is headed and what it will take to
keep business thriving while remaining flexible enough
to weather the challenges that it continues to
encounter," said Schneider.
The collaborative discussion topics will be determined
by the delegates, but it's anticipated that they will
cover such themes as:
convergence of delivery channels; consolidation and the
future of M & A; emerging technologies; keeping pace
with market demand for new products; best practices from
outside the industry and corporate social
responsibility, among others.
This exclusive event will be held May 20-22, 2008 at a
five-star resort in Malta.
