BETONUSA CHANGES ONLINE POKER NETWORK
23 February 2007
DGN gains from Microgaming's loss
Poker network operator Digital Gaming Network (DGN)
has added BetonUSA.com to its list of licensees,
benefiting from the site's departure from the
Microgaming Poker Network.
It is not yet clear why the poker site left Microgaming
for DGN.
DGN recently acquired Dobrosoft, its software provider,
and signed up the high profile Full Contact Poker site
fronted by Daniel Negreanu when Ongame backed out of the
USA.
A spokeswoman for the network claims that they have
several other major signups in the wings as poker
operations that want to continue serving US players look
for alternative networks. Nicole Sims said: “This is
just the first of many deals that will be announced over
the next few weeks.”
The Poker Host.com site is another member of the
network.
The German BetonUSA Group AG was formerly known as
Casmaker Gaming & Entertainment AG, and reports at the
end of January this year indicated that it had been
acquired by Jazette Enterprises Limited, the US facing
company formed following the US pull-out of Sportingbet
plc last year. The BetOnUSA Group (Empire Entertainment
Ltd) customer service and accounting is now directed to
Costa Rica.
The purchase brings sports betting back to the company
and gives Jazette ownership of the old World Gaming
software code.
When InfoPowa checked the poker site this week it was
closed for action, bearing a site notice that advised
visitors: "Unfortunately our poker product is currently
unavailable as we upgrade it. In the interim try our
other poker products—Three Card Poker and Bermuda Poker.
We regret the inconvenience and anticipate having the
upgraded poker for you shortly."
