FACEBOOK TOUGHENS UP ADVERT CODE
18 December 2009
The world's largest social networking site
will enforce bans on certain products
According to BigNews, the world's largest social
networking website, Facebook, will strictly enforce its
rules against advertising 'morally unacceptable'
products like spy cameras, firearms, tobacco and
gambling.
Among the long list of prohibited
content is a section code that disallows “gambling,
including without limitation, any online casino, sports
books, bingo, or poker.”
It's not a question of
gambling being singled out, either - the code includes
around 20 items that are also 'verboten'. This includes
uncertified pharmaceuticals, inflammatory religious
content, pyramid schemes and nudity.
