CAROL STONE NAMED AS NEW R.G.S.B. CHIEF EXEC
11 December 2009
Busy year ahead for new leader
The Responsible Gambling Fund (RGF) and Responsible
Gambling Strategy Board (RGSB) has appointed Carol Stone
as the new chief executive officer.
Stone has
wide experience; she was chief executive of the London
Bombings Relief Charitable Fund and since then has been
working as a grant making consultant and interim
manager. Previously, she held senior posts in arts and
museum management, at the British Arts Council, the New
Opportunities Fund and the Big Lottery Fund.
She
has also had various advisory and committee roles in
relation to support for victims of crime and major
incidents, and for performing arts bodies.
Stone
will take up post as chief executive on 1 February 2010
and will lead a joint team supporting both RGF and RGSB.
Stephen Dunmore will continue as interim chief executive
until she arrives.
RGF distributes the funds
raised by the gambling industry to research, education
and treatment programmes in support of a national
responsible gambling strategy.
Baroness
Neuberger, Chair of RGSB and RGF, commented: “We are
very pleased to announce that Carol Stone will be the
chief executive of RGF and RGSB, particularly because
she has such a strong background in grant making and
commissioning.
"These are areas of key
importance under the new structures and I have every
confidence that Carol is the right person to take this
work forward. I would like to express my thanks to
Stephen Dunmore, who has been invaluable as the Interim
Chief Executive and was instrumental in the design and
implementation of the new structures. We will now move
forward to implement the initial priorities for
research, education and treatment set out in the
Strategy Board’s recent report.”
