THIS ONLINE POKER RECORD DID NOT LAST LONG (Update)
4 December 2009
US online player breaks days-old Russian
record
The world record set only days ago of completing 40 088
hands of online poker in 18 hours and 33 minutes (see
previous InfoPowa report) set by a 22-year-old Russian
player has already been broken.
American online
player and blogger at
http://joeingram1.liquidpoker.net/
'ChicagoJoe' cracked the Russian record set by player 'innerpsy'
by completing 50 000 hands on multiple $0.10/$0.25 No
Limit Hold’em or Pot Limit Hold’em tables at PokerStars
in 20 hours and 2 minutes to claim the record, and some
$30 000 or more dollars on side bets placed by members
of the popular 2plus2 poker message board.
ChicagoJoe clearly had plenty of steam left, continuing
for a further 470 hands before ending the session at 21
hours.
The young American set himself a sterner
test than the original record, promising Sunday: "Will
be starting this prop bet tomorrow morning between
10-12AM eastern and hope to play 50k+ hands in a 24 hour
period and show a profit. I am putting up about 13k of
my own money in hopes of winning 30k! I will be playing
all hands at NL25 on PokerStars and am very confident in
my chances here.
"I feel like I have a good game
plan going into all of this and should be able to be
victorious. I will post daily updates on my blog and in
2+2 thread tomorrow and hopefully set a new world record
for most hands come Tuesday Morning."
The
enthusiastic Joe presented his multi-monitor plan in a
Youtube video at
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=eYEjFnN-vJU&feature=player_embedded
to explain his preparations and tactics for fulfilling
the conditions of his attempt. He followed this up
during the event by webcamming the record breaking
attempt as it took place.
Good to his word, he
did all of this, turning a profit of $850.35 on the
play, and more from those who bet against him.
ChicagoJoe's new record now stands at 50 470 hands over
21 hours. How long will it last?
Fans of this
sort of endurance record are predicting that 'Chiren',
who once played a million hands over the course of a
month could be about to come forward with a new
challenge, and there's always the possibility that 'innerpsy'
will try to reclaim the record.
