PARADISE ENTERS THE MILLION DOLLAR TOURNEY FIELD
12 December 2008
More online competition for the major poker sites
Sportingbet's Paradise Poker.com has been around since
the start of the online poker boom some years back, and
has experienced fluctuating fortunes as a business, with
especially hard times befalling it as a result of the
UIGEA and a withdrawal from the US market. This week the
site gave notice that it is still competitive with the
announcement that it is to offer its largest tournament
yet, going head to head with the industry leaders by
offering a million Euro guaranteed prizepool.
The Euro 1 Million Guaranteed Tournament has a Euro 1
000 buy-in and is set to take place on December 14th.
The event will award a minimum of Euro 200 000 for a
first place and a range of other prizes to final table
finishers that includes a Euro 10 000 sponsorship to any
of Team Paradise’s live tournament events around the
world, and a Euro 1 500 sponsorship for smaller
tournaments.
Registrations currently approach 200, well short of the
1 000 players Paradise management hopes for, but in the
nature of such tournaments, a last minute rush can be
expected as players go after the big money and prizes on
offer.
For players short of the Euro 1 000 buy-in there are
alternatives ways to get into this major event. Direct
online Sit & Go satellites are available for a Euro 150
buy-in which offer a free seat in the big event to the
winner. Paradise is also running direct daily satellites
with a Euro 50 buy-in which offer seats for each Euro
1050 generated.
