BIG MONEY FOR MISHKAT IN FTOPS 9
22 August 2008
Large entry fields and six-figure main prizes
continue at current online poker tourney series
The latest big winner in the current Full Tilt Online
Poker Series ninth edition is player "MishkaT" who
truimphed in Event 17, which saw an entry field of 1 059
entrants in the $300+$22 buy-in, six-max format
tournament. The total prize pool for the event ended up
at $1 207 500 as a result of 2 239 rebuys and 727
add-ons.
By the time the field had been whittled down to the
final table, Luke "IWEARGOGGLES" Staudenmaier was a
convincing chip leader on 1 691 565 - a solid 75 000
chip lead over nearest opponent "MishkaT" and Kevin
"GetPWN3D" Saul who was even further behind on 1 439
336. The three lead players maintained their dominance
through to the final three, playing entertaining poker
until Staudenheimer was eliminated by a rampant Saul,
who by then had built a 4 million chip stack.
Going into the heads up, it looked as if it was all
Saul, who had a 5 to 1 lead on MishkaT, but as so often
happens in these situations, fortune was capricious, and
aided by skill and determination MishkaT closed the gap,
leading to an hour's exciting poker in which the lead
changed hands several times.
In the end it was MishkaT who was victorious, claiming
the $251 764 main prize and leaving a worthy opponent
with the second place paycheck of $167 842. Third placed
Staudenheimer was still in six-figure territory with his
third prize of $119 542.
