FOX TV DEAL FOR CLUBWPT
8 August 2008
New television series will feature subscription
gaming club
ClubWPT, the ingenious UIGEA workaround for America's
estimated 60 million poker fans, is to be featured in a
Fox Sports Net television series following an agreement
with World Poker Tour Enterprises.
ClubWPT was launched at the beginning of 2008 as a
membership-by-subscription organisation operating under
US sweepstakes rules, and offers daily poker and
blackjack events. In return for a monthly subscription
of $19.95, players receive points to play in over 4 000
live tournaments, sit-n-go’s and ring games carrying
opportunities to win north of $100 000 in cash and
prizes each month.
The Club also sponsors WPT tournament packages for
successful players, and provides players with magazine
subscriptions and travel and entertainment discounts
redeemable in Las Vegas.
The new deal follows an agreement between Fox and WPT
for the former to broadcast Season VII of the World
Poker Tour (see previous InfoPowa report).
“Fox Sports Network takes pride in its progressive
approach to programming and is pleased to be the new
home for the World Poker Tour,” said George Greenberg,
Executive Vice-President of Programming and Production
for Fox Sports Net. “The WPT is synonymous with big
event poker and is a firmly established household brand.
The marriage is perfect.”
