U.S. POSTPONES MEETINGS WITH E.U. OFFICIALS
1 August 2008
Mystery surrounds reasons for cancellation of
Washington meetings
In a move that seems to have taken everyone by surprise,
the U.S. Trade Representative has apparently asked a
European Union delegation for a postponement of meetings
planned for Washington DC on the US government's online
gambling and WTO policies scheduled for early next
month.
The EU requested the meetings after complaints in
December last year by leading gambling companies and the
Remote Gaming Association that American online gambling
policies were unfair, inconsistent and damaging.
Interactive Gaming News has been informed by RGA chief
Clive Hawkswood, already in Washington, that he not
aware of why the U.S. authorities have requested the
postponed to an as yet unknown date.
