Macau Cup spread over three days
The online poker super-site Poker Stars.com branches out
into the land poker sector this weekend with the Macau
Cup tournament held in the company's live poker room at
the Grand Waldo Casino in Macau.
Spread over three days, the Cup features several events,
commencing with a charity tournament to benefit the
Caritas de Macau - a social charity in Macau providing
services to individuals, families and communities to
help create a more humane condition economically,
morally and spiritually.
Building up excitement for the main event, preliminaries
like the Macau Poker Cup Deep Stack have a buy-in of
$100 HKD, and the poker room will host a Phase 1
mega-satellite for the upcoming APPT Macau with a $600
buy-in. The big event is the Macau Cup Red Dragon which
carries a $10 000 HKD buy-in.
The action continues through Sunday with the Macau Cup
$500 Challenge and a Phase 2 mega-satellite for the APPT
Macau.
Players from a number of countries are expected to play
in the various events, including Steve Chung, the Hong
Kong player who was the bubble boy in this year's WSOP
Main Event, finishing 667th and winning a seat in next
year's Main Event.
Internet poker aces have also arrived in Macau to test
their skills against an international slew of players.
