Widening interest in poker recognised by
provincial lottery
"Be the best in the west at poker," urges a news article
from the British Columbia province of the Great White
North this week as it reports on the involvement of the
British Columbia Lottery Corporation in a Vancouver area
poker tournament.
"Do you have the nerves of steel to be the best poker
player in the west?" the piece continues, advising that
the BCLC is to present the second annual Pacific Poker
Shootout Aug. 31 to Sept. 2 at the Cascades Casino in
Langley.
The tournament has a total estimated prize pool of $600
000 and a top prize of $125 000 to the last player
standing.
The shootout features three days of tournament play in
no limit Texas Hold'Em with an estimated prize pool of
$105 000 based on 350 players and a $300 buy-in. Sept. 1
and 2 events have an estimated prize pool of $500 000
based on a maximum of 500 players and a $1 000 buy-in.
