Pokerstars.net to sponsor NHL Awards charity drive
 

This year's National Hockey League awards at the Palms Hotel in Las Vegas on June 18th will include a poker for charity event sponsored by PokerStars.net, a poker information site associated with the world's largest online poker room.

The event was announced by NHL Commissioner Gary Bettman, who revealed that the charity event would take place on June 17th.

Branded the NHL Charity Shootout Presented by Pokerstars.net, the tournament will feature several top celebs and professional athletes, including NHL stars and NHL alumni.

"For years there has been a charitable component to the awards program," said Bettman. "I am pleased to announce today that the NHL will team with Pokerstars.net and the NHL Players' Association to present this tournament in association with the 2009 NHL Awards."

Charities to benefit include The Ronald McDonald House in Las Vegas and the NHL Players Association's Goals and Dreams.
