WSOP FINALISTS JOIN TEAM POKERSTARS

Demidov and Eastgate to generate more
excitement at the online poker tables
Last November two talented young players faced off
across the felt in the Rio's Amazon Room in Las Vegas,
ready to do battle for the respect and more than $9
million that goes with the World Series of Poker
championship main event winner's prize. Ivan Demidov and
Peter Eastgate had triumphed over an entry field of
thousands for the big event, and their heads up clash
lived up to expectations as the grand finale to the
world of gambling's most prestigious event.
In a
close fought duel, it was Eastgate who emerged the
winner, but both players came away with enhanced
reputations.
Those reputations will now add to
the attraction of the world's largest online poker site
as the two men join Team PokerStars Pro, playing both
online and offline in events around the world under the
PokerStars banner.
"It feels great to finally be
part of the team," Demidov (27) said this week. "It's
going to allow me to travel more and play more events. I
really enjoy playing offline in live events and it's
great to become a team member with all these other great
players."
Eastgate (22), continues to play and
win and has told reporters that he will not be
squandering his rewards, preferring to shrewdly invest
in channels that will bring him good returns. Like
Demidov, Eastgate started out playing Internet poker,
moving on to live events as his confidence grew.
Both players will be active at PokerStars' EPT San Remo
and the EPT Grand Final in Monte Carlo, with Demidov
additionally taking part in the Russian Poker Tour in
Moscow next (May) month....and both are looking forward
to again competing in the WSOP for 2009.
In
other news from PokerStars, it has been revealed that
the ban on 23-year-old serial multi-accounter Justin
Bonomo has been lifted, allowing him to compete in the
inaugural Spring Championship of Online Poker (SCOOP)
starting this week.
Bonomo has hopefully matured
since his unacceptable conduct three or more years ago,
and currently plays as a sponsored pro at Bodog. He has
continued to display talent and determination in several
live poker competitions, winning six-figure prizes.
