INTERNET GAMBLING OPERATOR ARRESTED IN FLORIDA
25 April 2008
Sting operation results in arrest of 40 year old
Police detectives in Tampa, Florida have reported the
arrest this week of an Apollo Beach resident for illegal
Internet gambling activity at his business address in
Sun City Boulevard.
Jon P. Monson (40) was charged with the third degree
felony of running an illegal gambling operation and the
first degree misdemeanour of holding gambling equipment
in the Sun City Centre after detectives alleged that
people were entered his business to gamble on the
Internet, receiving payouts on internet poker, slots and
keno.
Patrons exchanged cash for magnetic cards at Monson's
business and slid the cards through a reader to start
gaming sessions and place bets, Detective Heinz Bachmann
wrote in a report. Winners were given cash payouts by
the business.
Bachmann wrote that he played the games between February
17 and April 8 and received cash payouts from Monson
when he won.
The accused was released from Orient Road Jail after
posting $2 500 bail.
