27 SURVIVORS AT WPT
27 April 2007
Lee is the man to watch
With 27 survivors remaining from the original starting
field of 639, Day 4 of the World Poker Tour championship
showcased tough, no-quarter poker with players all well
within the money bubble, and that $4 million winner's
prize so close it could be almost tasted.
The tension in the Fontana Room at the Bellagio in Las
Vegas was at times almost tangible, and it was Paul Lee
who finally ended up as the day's top dog with a chip
stack of $3 600 000 - well ahead of the previous leader
Phil Hellmuth who had dropped to 18th position with a
stack of $738 000 by the time play ended.
Day 4 of the World Poker Tour (WPT) Championship at the
Bellagio ended dramatically with Richard Anthony
eliminating Tom Schrieber in 28th place after a
gruelling confrontation.
Among the 27 survivors who will assemble for Day 5 are
Carlos Mortensen, Scott Fischman, Paul Wasicka, and
Roland De Wolfe.
Departing the scene and joining the roll call of
defeated champions were players like World Poker Tour
chairman Lyle Berman, Jared Hamby and Patrik Antonius.
