This week saw the final denouement in a case against a
Vietnamese gambling ring which was busted earlier this
year (see previous InfoPowa report)
ABC Radio Australia reports that a Vietnamese court has
jailed 12 members of the illegal online soccer betting
ring for up to seven years, and dished out suspended
sentences to less involved members.
The state-run Vietnam news agency says the Ho Chi Minh
City-based network took online bets worth up to $US 50
000 a day on matches in the Vietnamese domestic league.
Games in Germany, Italy, Spain, Britain and in the
European Championships were also the subject of
Vietnamese betting activity facilitated by the ring.
