NETELLER MYSTERY
20 April 2007
Did Lefebvre and Lawrence agree to a further delay
in the hearing?
Neteller founders Stephen Lawrence and John Lefebvre
have still not had their day in court despite being
arrested and bailed some time ago on January 15 by the
FBI.
The case against the two Canadians, who were detained on
US soil by FBI agents on allegations connected with
Neteller's online gambling business despite no longer
holding executive positions in the company, has now been
postponed four times.
Peter Neiman, the legal representative for defendant
Lawrence this week confirmed that a further extension -
to May 16 - has been granted, an event given little
mainstream media coverage despite widespread interest in
the case and in the negotiations between the US
Department of Justice and Isle of Man-based Neteller.
Following the arrests of its founders, Neteller withdrew
from the US market and blocked all US accounts,
depriving thousands of American players of control over
their balances estimated to total tens of millions of
dollars. The e-wallet also suspended trading in its
shares on London's AIM, a situation that pertains to
this date.
