THE MASTER TRUIMPHS IN WSOP'S INDIANA CIRCUIT
TOURNAMENT
13 April 2007
$238 756 payday for poker pro
The weekend's poker action centred on the World Series
of Poker Circuit event at Caesars in Indiana, where an
impressive lineup of poker pros fought it out for a
seriously good payday of $238 756.
In the hunt were Barry Greenstein (who finished 17th)
Scott Fischman (9th), Young Phan, Mimi Tran and several
other top players giving Indiana spectators a feast of
savvy and daring poker.
At the end of the day, the heads up in the $5 000
No-Limit Hold 'Em championship event was between Men
"The Master" Nguyen and Young Phan, with The Master at a
serious two-to-one chip stack disadvantage. Despite
this, the extrovert poker pro turned the game around and
eventually saw his opponent off just before midnight,
when his pocket sixes held off Phan's ace-ten offsuit
for the win.
Nguyen picked up the winner's check for $238 756, with
Phan taking the second place payout of $125 273.
