GAMING TOP COP FOR NEW JERSEY NAMED
6 April 2007
Pledge to "aggressively monitor" Atlantic City
gambling scene
The retirement last month of the long-serving Director
of Gaming Enforcement for New Jersey, Thomas Auriemma
led to the announcement this week of Yvonne G. Maher as
his acting successor.
Ms. Maher (45) is an assistant attorney general and
veteran prosecutor for the state, and was assigned to
the Casino Protection Bureau in the Division of Criminal
Justice for more than four years, prosecuting
casino-related criminal cases.
She previously worked as an assistant Atlantic County
prosecutor for two years.
"I pledge that we will continue to aggressively monitor
the health and integrity of the casino gambling industry
in Atlantic City," she said in statement following her
appointment.
