I agree with this. One of the well-known test labs even openly recommends providers running RTPs at lower levels. And they've never changed this sentence, it's been on their page since 2018.

I'm not sure what the phrase "acceptable level" exactly means, but it could be the threshold or standard for the RTP % that is deemed appropriate under certain criteria.

So essentially it implies to me that the game can consistently run at lower than an advertised RTP, be certified, and consequently have no doubts from the Bodies. Some players will eventually complain, but it won't matter.

I guess when you're dealing with the random nature of games of chance, it must be hard to pinpoint a design to reach exact RTP without some room either way. So it makes sense that creators would air on the side of caution.

Totally get what you mean! It's like trying to catch a wild Pokémon – you never know what you're gonna get! Playing max versions does seem like a clever move – might as well go big and aim for those epic wins, right?

To be fair to them, the full quote is:

And they would be right in that sense, there have been games published that have not been tested correctly (certified test houses by the way ) and those mistakes have made a mockery of the declared RTP - both upwards and downwards.

As I've harped on about at length, the 10 billion spin TRTP calculation is similarly not fit for purpose when games have increasing amounts of stored value or required 50 pages of optimal strategy - such that the TRTP and the house edge no longer add up to 100% (e.g. 95% TRTP + 7% house edge = 102%).

So even if the declared theoretical RTP is accurate, it may not be representative of the actual RTP... and once again the regulators are asleep on this point. Would you play Kingmaker or Monopoly Megaways if they had a declared (e.g.) 30% first spin RTP?

I've played a lot at bet365 and MrQ, then ive also played at BCgame. All are supposed to have max RTP.

Mrq and bet365 certainly seem like they run a hell of a lot better than the games at BCgame.

When playing on hacksaw and no limit at BCgame they feel off. Longer to bonus and poorer returns. I often think they feel rigged and as a result I don't play there so much.
