Has anyone purchased a powerball lottery ticket?

I just read in our local Toronto paper that if you want to make sure, make the drive. I think lotter.com is legit but you cannot get on there. I am about 1-1/2 hours to the US. I think I will take a pass on this and do as someone else suggested (Paeske?) and just buy one of our own jackpot tickets. It just would have been exciting to be able to participate in the largest jackpot in history.

very good point here in Massachusetts in the U.S.A. It is printed on the lottery web site that its not leagle to buy on line [you most likely WONT GET PAID ] if you do

casinomeister and someone else just suggested eurolotto.com. as well as the rep from eurolotto. don't get how they can sell them if its illegal.

oh well...i guess if i really want a chance at winning i could always make the one hour drive across the border to NY.
thanks:(

The Massachusetts State Lottery adheres to the federal law, the Wire Communications Act of 1961, which prohibits the use of wire communication facilities (telephone lines) for interstate or foreign gambling purposes. The use of telephone wires in internet transmission is defined under that law and therefore it is unlawful for the Lottery to offer its games for sale online.

Lottery online

Hey All, I'm the rep from EuroLotto and I posted some info earlier in the thread  but to explain more clearly; we are NOT offering Powerball tickets for sale illegally! What we actually do is take a bet on the outcome of the draw for the same jackpot amount. We use hedging mechanisms; Insurance via credible underwriters (such as Lloyds), ILS (Insurance linked securities) and in some fringe cases real lotto tickets to cover our risk in a 100% secure way. It gives players who cannot ordinarily play for this jackpot amount, the chance to do so.

It IS a really exciting landmark jackpot and we wish everyone who plays the BEST of luck - whether you are buying in stores in the US or playing for the jackpot amount online.

Thanks!

Helen

I can get on there now but am now restricted to buying. Their was a article here saying the lottery corporation is warning about buying tickets online and you will have a hard time collecting as you have to physically buy a ticket so I am out with all these issues.

Thanks Helen for the clarification. Just one question; if one of your players actually won the jackpot amount of 1.5billion how would you pay it out? In one lump sum or in payments? Just curious as I do plan to give it a shot since it is a very large jackpot and you never know I could get lucky:p (not likely but wonders do happen from time to time:D)

Lol Osulle id hate to win $1.3 billion at a casino that hadn't even bothered buying a ticket then wait for years to see if I got all the money.

Each to their own tho I just fear what would happen if a winner actually won that amount if their underwriters etc. could actually cover it.

Anyway Answer to your question and this is for wins over £5 million so heck knows what happens if someone gets the big win.

6.2.Payment of Large Wins

The Player understands and agrees that the payment of any jackpot price of a game offered by a third party game provider may be the responsibility of the respective game provider. Specific terms and conditions may apply. The jackpot winning Player is recommended to contact customer support for more information.

Without prejudice to the foregoing, In the case of significant wins exceeding €5,000,000, for which EUROLOTTO is responsible for the payment thereof (see section 13) EUROLOTTO reserves the right to decide to pay the winning Player in accordance with the following re-payment plan:

The first 10% of the win will be paid by EUROLOTTO to the player immediately after KYC is collected and the identity of the Player verified;

The remainder amount of 90% will be paid by EUROLOTTO to the Player over a period of nine (9) years at the frequency decided at the sole and exclusive discretion of EUROLOTTO.

Each Player is solely responsible for reporting and paying any taxes as required by the governing law of the country of residence, if applicable.

EUROLOTTO and the respective game provider reserve the right to publish the name of a PLAYER who makes a significant amount

Frankly, I am amazed that no one has mentioned that soon to be accredited casino EuroLotto sells these tickets.

https://casinomeister.com/static/goto.php?c=eurolotto

That's the problem tho they don't sell the tickets.

You just enter your numbers and if you hit the winning combination they pay you out of their own funds the same amount as the jackpot prize.

No ticket physically brought by them. Maybe they can cover a $1.3 billion payout over 9 years. But personally id hate to see anyone win a prize like that at one of these sites that don't actually have the ticket . The stress of wondering whether you would receive all the money plus with no way of staying anonymous would be too much for many.

It bothers me that if a casino has 100% guarantee that they can pay the money due to the way they cover all outcomes and have the prizes underwritten etc. that a winner doesn't get paid it for 9 years. Its 10% upfront and rest over 9 years as they feel fit. Surely if its insured they would pay whole lot in one go.

Thanks for the info Paul I couldn't find it on the website. If I won it I really wouldn't be upset about waiting 9 years to be paid in full. 10% of the 1.5billion would be enough to get me sorted:D It's winter and cold so a little dream helps to brighten the day even if chances of winning are 1 in 292 million or something.

I would think that the under-writers would pay since they wouldn't cover it if they are not willing to pay it out in the off chance of of somebody winning it. Maybe that makes me naive but there you go.

I never play Power Ball because I am put off by the $2 a ticket instead of the customary $1. For 1.5 Billion though....I did throw a $20 at it while buying groceries yesterday and put $10 into the pool at work.
I hope a pool wins it so the money gets spread out over a lot of people. That's too much money for any 1 normal person to handle.

Looks like Australians can enter to try win the $2.1 Billion powerball through 'https://www.lottoland.com.au/'. Looks legitimate enough I might give it one shot.

How annoyed will U.S/Canadian citizens be if someone international (i.e me :p) won their powerball ?!?!?! Haha can only dream ........... !

Found this fun link which shows how much you invest and lose over a period of time on the Powerball. Makes me glad I only dabble on the lotteries from time to time.

You do not have permission to view link Log in or register now.

I bought 20 plays and did win a few bucks , had the powerball with power play , only freaking number I had in all that mess , oh well no retiring to the the South of France for me:D

What Rockycatt was getting at is that in his state, he has to go down to the local 7/11 in order to buy a lottery ticket. He can't buy it online like most of the rest of the world.

You can thank a politician for that. :p

The one winner was a nurse and her boss bought every employee a ticket! She found out she won but finished her shift anyway.

Hearing that one might have been a hoax. The other winner who has come forward their mayor is asking them for money "because we have a small budget", and the daughter wants a horse and already saying how she will spend dad's money.

I didnt even bother. Granted the amount of people i could help with that much money would be life changing for a lot of people but would also cause more stress in my life than i would want.
