The GIGSE is coming up - the Global Interactive Gaming Summit and Expo which is held every year either in Toronto or Montreal. This will be my seventh annual meandering - and I intend to get a lot of work done. Why? Because most of the people I am in regular contact with aren't going (for numerous excuses). Which is good for me since these people usually distract me with sushi or semi-private Bierfests. Now I can fully concentrate on catching up with elusive people, do some leg work and hopefully get some answers for you my dear ${token2}. Here are just a couple:
Kahnawake. What's up with the torpid responses to player issues? Are they that busy, or are they that strapped for cash that they can't afford to hire someone to manage player complaints center? Real Time Gaming: what's up with their arbitration/resolution service - Hastings? This was supposed to have happened nearly a year ago and it's been nothing but lip service and BS since then. What a shame to see a leading software provider scurry around as if they never read the writing on the wall - all at the player's expense. If you have a problem with a Real Time Gaming casino, you're pretty much on your own. (side note: please check out the list here on the Casinomeister status of most RTG casinos).
I'll be also speaking about the myth of bonus "abuse" and how this is something the casino operators need to come to terms with. You make the offer, the player accepts and plays out the offer, you pay the player. To deviate from this simple bare-bones philosophy, one ventures into the dark side of online casino management. I hope I can educate a few people on this.
The bottom line - it's not a good time for the player regardless of where he or she resides. Many casinos have cut back on staff, customer service reps, and many have had to deal with a myriad of payment processing problems. Sure, there are a handful of casinos that never dealt with US players, but all of the big dogs were hit pretty hard.
The face of the industry is changing, and I hope to be able to give you a good interpretation of what this face looks like by sharing stories from the trenches. If you plan to be in Montreal during the GIGSE, let me know. I should be easy to find. I'll be the loner-dude in the Sushi bar downstairs.
FORUM UPDATE
Complaints Section
Last week, I mentioned that newbie posters would no longer be able to post in the complaints section in the forum. There were a number of reasons for this, one was to cut down on the frivolous complaints that newbies tend to post. Well, I thought about this over the past few days, and I decided to reset the permissions to what they were.
If I'm concerned about fraudsters making one-post commando raids, then they'll just be outed. If newbies don't follow the rules and guidelines posting their complaints, they'll be given on-the-spot corrections by either me or some of the other members who share my concerns.
I shouldn't have to explain how to post a tactful complaint to ensure its effectiveness. I expect members new and old to read and follow their intuition and common sense. I should not have to implement babysitting tactics in order to keep the machine running smoothly.
The bottom line is: you sleep in the bed you make. Simple as that. Post responsibly. Thanks!

Last week Microgaming's Hitman and Cash and Curry tied for this coveted award here.
As most of you are aware, I do not bring on any casino property into Casinomeister's Accredited Casino section until I actually sit down with their representatives and have a pow wow of sorts; this is one of the ways casinos are validated. The newest member of our Accredited section is Prime Casino: a fairly new Microgaming casino run by the folks at Prime Gaming. They are undergoing an eCOGRA review at the moment, which is very promising. These guys have damn good attitudes about this industry. Please support them by joining them today (sorry - no US).
Many of you are probably not aware of this, but my son-in-law is a paratrooper currently stationed in Iraq, and the folks back home (at Ft. Richardson, AK) are raising money by selling magnets. These magnets only cost $6 each, and the money that's being raised is for a welcome home party the troops will receive when they finally come back home. Please check out the info here and buy a magnet. You can even use your Paypal account!
A little girl was talking to her teacher about whales. The teacher said
it was physically impossible for a whale to swallow a human because even
though it was a very large mammal its throat was very small. The little
girl stated that Jonah was swallowed by a whale.
Irritated, the teacher reiterated that a whale could not swallow a human; it was physically impossible.
The little girl said, "When I get to heaven I will ask Jonah". The
teacher asked, "What if Jonah went to hell?" The little girl
replied, "Then you ask him".
One day a little girl was sitting and watching her mother do the dishes at
the kitchen sink. She suddenly noticed that her mother had several strands
of white hair sticking out in contrast on her brunette head. She looked
at her mother and inquisitively asked, "Why are some of your hairs white,
Mom?"
Her mother replied, "Well, every time that you do something wrong
and make me cry or unhappy, one of my hairs turns white."
The little girl thought about this revelation for a while and then said, "Momma, how come
ALL of grandma's hairs are white?"

BWIN WINS ANOTHER ONLINE GAMBLING ISSUE
Austrian injunction set aside
Bwin has won another legal hand in an online gambling dispute in which Omnia Communication-Centers GmbH sought an injunction to curtail the betting group's Austrian activities.
The Vienna Commercial Court this week rejected the injunction, which sought to prevent the bwin Group from offering games of chance – and in particular poker and casino games – on the Austrian market under its Gibraltarian licence. The court rejected the application on the grounds that there was no competition between the plaintiff and bwin.
"We welcome today’s decision by the court to reject this application for a preliminary injunction,", commented Co-CEO Norbert Teufelberger on learning of the positive outcome of these proceedings.
"Legal action is not the right solution,", added Co-CEO Manfred Bodner. "We are in favour of a constructive dialogue to regulate the gaming market not only in the best interests of the consumer, but also in conformity with EU legislation and taking into account the realities of the internet age."
The Vienna listed gaming firm has had a busy week, obtaining shareholder permission for a capital rise of up to 16.3 million new shares in order to generate over Euro 500 million at its AGM. Boerse Express speculation is that the capital increase will be used to fund the purchase of UK-based competitor Sportingbet.
Earlier this week (see previous InfoPowa report) Bwin scored another online gambling victory when a Munich court threw out an attempt by the German state of Bavarian to prevent Bwin and other firms from marketing their services in competition with official state-supported outlets. The court found that it was not technically possible for Bwin and like online companies to screen out Bavarian gamblers.
