WORD FROM THE MEISTER |
Did the Pilgrims land on Plymouth Rock because they ran out of beer?
Sounds ludicrous? Well, actually it's true. Except that the pilgrims had a different definition of the word "beer." For most of us, Beer is cold, wet, and good reason to continue living so we can continue to drink more of it. For many, it's a necessity for a good life; for the pilgrims, it was a matter of life and death. You can read about how they had their priorities worked out at the "Straight Dope". One of my favorite places to hang out (besides Casinomeister):
What's new in the forum?
Lots of stuff going on this past week. Some players were still miffed that I closed down the Wild Cards section after it had a meltdown. Well, sorry 'bout that. But like I said, if you need a place to post pictures of your wife's toenails or dog poop, there are plenty of forums that dig this sort of thing - please take these issues to those quality sites. I am adamant (not the 80's punk guy) to maintain the forum's position as one of the most informative and powerful message boards in the online casino industry.
One thing that changed this week is that postings made in the Jokes section will no longer count towards your overall post count. I hope this will give members more incentive to join the discussions in the more "meatier" sections.
So what's up in Casinomeisterland? How do land based slots differ from online - how do they work? - get some enlightenment here.
Virgin VIPs are up in arms for being pegged as bonus abusers. Are they really "abusing" the bonuses, or have they won too much? Check it out here.

From the archives...
An old country preacher had a teenage son, and it was getting time the boy
should give some thought to choosing a profession. Like many young men, the
boy didn't really know what he wanted to do, and he didn't seem too
concerned about it.
One day, while the boy was away at school, his father decided to try an
experiment. He went into the boy's room and placed on his study table three
objects:
a Bible,
a silver dollar, and
a bottle of whisky.
"I'll just hide behind the door," the old preacher said to himself, "and
when he comes home from school this afternoon, I'll see which object he
picks up. If it's the Bible, he's going to be a preacher like me, and what
a blessing that would be! If he picks up the dollar, he's going to be a
businessman, and that would be okay, too. But if he picks up the bottle,
he's going to be a no-good drunkard, and, Lord, what a shame that would be."
The old man waited anxiously, and soon heard his son's footsteps as he
entered the house whistling and headed for his room. He tossed his books on
the bed, and as he turned to leave the room he spotted the objects on the
table. With curiosity in his eye, he walked over to inspect them.
Finally, he picked up the Bible and placed it under his arm. He picked up
the silver dollar and dropped it into his pocket. He uncorked the bottle
and took a big drink.
"Lord have mercy," the old preacher whispered, " he's gonna be a
Congressman".
