| WHAT A MESS | ||
|
This week has been a mess - and no I'm not talking about my inbox or the way my desk looks - I'm talking about what's been going on in casinoland. Here are a few issues that you should be aware of: Issue #1 It appears that 888.com (Casino-on-net, Pacific Poker) employs individuals who market 888.com in an unorthodox manner. Besides being accused by numerous webmasters of "scraping' websites - using software that visit casino related sites and copies the text at a high rate of speed. They then upload this text to numerous websites that link to 888.com and Pacific Poker - they are spamming blogs. Let's take this website for example: www.casinoonnet-online.com redirects to 888.com. Here is the registrant information: Registrant [52981]: Cassava Enterprises (Gibraltar) Ltd. Europort 601-701 Gibraltar Gibraltar 1111 GI Administrative Contact [52981]: Guy Margolin Cassava Enterprises (Gibraltar) Ltd. Europort 601-701 Gibraltar Gibraltar 1111 GI Phone: +350.49800 Fax: +350.50309 Cassava incidently is the company that owns 888.com. So here we have a website casinoonet-online.com (what a stupid name by the way) that is apparently owned by Cassava and redirects to 888.com. Well there is nothing wrong with that, is there? But next, let's figure out how visitors get to casinoonet-online.com. Go to Google.com and paste this in the search field link:http://www.casinoonnet-online.com/. This will give you a list of all the websites that link to casinoonet-online.com. Hmm, something odd here. These are all forums and blogs that have nothing to do with gambling. Take a look at this link that appears at the bottom of the first search results page http://www.p45blogs.net/ok/archives/000407.html. This poor blog, which concerns Napster info, is nothing but spam crap from Casino-on-net, casinoonet-online.com, 888.com, pacificpoker-online.com, and a bunch of pharmaceutical idiots. This is the sort of garbage that pollutes cyberspace. It needs to stop - now. I am bewildered as to why 888.com feels that this sort of marketing is necessary, and it is beyond me why a publicly traded company feels that this is acceptable. Do they not care about how this industry appears to the wayward Google searcher looking for a Napster blog? Do they not care that this "searcher" may be a teenager or a conservative US Senator's wife? Have they lost their minds? Perhaps so. At press time, 888.com was dropped from the Casino Affiliate Program - de-certified in other words - stripped of their membership. Kudos for CAP. And yes, I know that 888.com is huge and I guess no one is going to tell them what to do. But just because you're huge doesn't mean you can do whatever you want. Players, please keep in mind that when you patronize a casino, you are supporting everything that they stand for and what they do. Affiliates, please do not support casino groups that practice or condone unorthodox marketing techniques. 888.com - off to the rogues with ye. Issue #2 What the hell is going on with Oddson's Video Poker? Over the weekend a player noticed something unusual with the doubling of Video Poker hands and posted his findings in our forum. A bunch of other seasoned players joined in, and the results were not good. Michael Shackelford, the Wizard of Odds, has been Oddson prime auditor and he was called in to evaluate the game logs. This is an ongoing issue and he has not posted his findings yet. But you can read about this here: http://www.casinomeister.com/forums/online-casino-poker-complaints/12185-mathematical-proof-english-harbour-cheating.html In the meantime, all Oddson casinos have been removed from Casinomeister until after the findings have been publicized. Issue #3 Is anyone awake at Kahnawake Gaming Commission? What is proving to be a flaccid and "lights on nobody home" syndrome - the Kahnawakees are AGAIN stonewalling me. Lest we forget, they never answered my emails until they were prodded by a third party concerning the Golden Palace streaking incident. As far as I know, Golden Palace can do whatever they want. You can read about that here. http://www.casinomeister.com/newsletter/2006/16march2006.html#Kahnawake Well guess what? They are doing it again. They refuse to answer my emails concerning Kaave.com. This is a Turkish Poker/Casino site that is sitting on Kahnawake servers. Kaave claims they are licensed, but Kahnawake told a player flat out that they weren't. This casino is not listed on the Kahnawake Gaming Commission's website either. So I emailed a polite request to find out if this casino is indeed licensed by the Kahnawakees, and if so - fine and dandy! If not, then why is this casino sitting on their servers? Simple enough, yes? Hell no. I've been stonewalled. I feel like the proverbial red-headed step child. One thing I can say for sure is that I have lost most of my confidence in this "Gaming Commission". |

Three old ladies are sitting in a diner, chatting about various things. One lady says, "You know, I'm getting really forgetful. This morning, I was standing at the top of the stairs, and I couldn't remember whether I had just come up or was about to go down." The second lady says, "You think that's bad? The other day, I was sitting on the edge of my bed, and I couldn't remember whether I was going to bed or had just woken up!" The third lady smiles smugly. "Well, my memory's just as good as it's always been, knock on wood." She raps the table. With a startled look on her face, she asks, "Who's there?!"

SPIN PALACE GROUP ACQUIRED BY FAIRGROUND GAMING Recently merged online casino and poker room group acquired for US $ 66 million Surprise disclosure this week was the takeover of the recently merged Spin Palace- Piggs Casino group by London listed company Fairground Gaming Holdings plc for a $66 million consideration. Trading of the shares on the London AIM was suspended as the deal went through. In the press release, the directors of Fairground Gaming (see previous InfoPowa reports on this company) disclosed that the company has entered into a conditional purchase agreement to acquire all of the online gaming businesses and subsidiaries, which collectively form The Spin Palace Group from Roundit Limited, for a maximum consideration of US$66 million. Highlights of the deal include: * The Acquisition is the first by Fairground Gaming since admission to AIM in October 2005, is in line with the Company’s strategy and is conditional on re-admission to trading of the enlarged issued share capital; * The Spin Palace Group comprises two recently combined businesses, Spin Palace and Piggs Casino, and is a licensed online casino and poker group offering over 200 different games to a global customer base; * Core domains include www.spinpalace.com * The technology platform of the Acquisition is underpinned by Microgaming considered by the Fairground directors to be the leading provider of software to online casinos; * Scope for further integration and exploitation of new products; Existing management teams and staff to remain with the enlarged group on completion of the Acquisition; * Acquisition incorporates a marketing business and scalable call centre to which Roundit previously outsourced these functions as well as an award-winning affiliate programme; * The initial consideration of approximately US$46 million, consisting of US$10 million cash payment from existing Fairground Gaming resources with the remainder being satisfied through the issue of ordinary shares in Fairground Gaming and warrants over Ordinary Shares in Fairground Gaming; * Further earnout consideration payable of up to US$20 million, dependent upon the EBITDA of The Spin Palace Group for the year to 31 December 2006; and * The acquisition constitutes a reverse takeover for the purposes of the AIM Rules and accordingly the Directors have requested that Fairground Gaming’s shares be suspended from trading on AIM with immediate effect until such time as an AIM admission document is published. Commenting on the proposed acquisition, Evan Hoff, Chief Executive of Fairground Gaming, said: “The Spin Palace Group will be the cornerstone in the execution of Fairground Gaming’s consolidation strategy. Both Spin Palace and Piggs Casino are well managed and cash generative businesses and, combined, we believe they have the potential to be scaled upwards to enhance future revenues of the Company. We look forward to working with management in growing the business and seeking out complementary acquisitions that will assist us in achieving further scale and product and geographic diversification. We look forward to providing further information to investors in due course.” News courtesy of Infopowa news service. Complaints? Kudos? Please let me know. Peace | ||
