Dear Reader,

The clock is ticking, and I'm trying to stay on track to get the high-speed, new and improved wondrous newly made-over Casinomeister up and ready for its launch date. When will this be? Maybe some of you should start an office pool and come up with a date for me.

Auspiciously yours,

Bryan

    WORD FROM THE MEISTER
    WHAT'S WRONG WITH THIS PICTURE?
The MiniVegas group has been listed at Casinomeister for six years, and for the past six years there has been only a handful of complaints - mostly minor, and these are expected from time to time. But just recently, there have been a flurry of complaints in our forum - mostly one time newbie posters, most of whom have been suspected, or so I tend to believe, of player fraud. Which brings me further to the decision to disable all new accounts for the first 72 hours of their creation. Call it a cooling off period. There are far too many threads that get polluted by these crap postings. Anyway, I digress.

There are two threads that concern me. One is from a Turkish player who signed up at Vegas Poker Casino, and his account was blocked because he made a deposit in Euros. The terms and conditions state that the Euro is only for players who are residents of the European Union. Well, they don't have the Turkish Lira listed at the casino as an accepted currency, so this player assumed that depositing in Euros would be okay. Euros are used pretty much all over Turkey by the way, and Turkey has requested consideration to be a member of the EU. I'm not defending his justification; I'm merely pointing out that there is a logic behind his actions.

Anyway, I guess he should have contacted support and asked if his deposit would be allowed, because after he deposited, the casino locked his account. They pointed out "All accounts opened not according to our Account Currency Policy (i.e. Euro accounts opened from a non-EU country) will be locked: should you have made a deposit before the account is locked, the Casino cannot be held responsible for any action taken afterwards." Well, what Einstein came up with the last part of this term? How do you make a deposit after your account is locked?

So what's a player to do? He found me, and I'm trying to find out what the deal is. You'd think that it would be clear to anyone looking at this account that there may have been a misunderstanding (unless they don't know where Turkey is). But then again, this guy could be some big time bonus abuser rampaging each casino in the casino group. I don't know - but I'll find out.

Another thread that concerns me is one where a player posted a response from the casino when his account was locked. He's been accused of "abusing" their promos.

After extensive analysis of your *********** account, it appears that you have on a number of occasions taken advantage of the goodwill of the Vegas Joker

As a result, the Vegas Poker Casino felt that it had no other option but to lock your account and deny your respective winnings.

These decisions were taken only as a last resort and were enacted in adherence to the Vegas Poker Casino terms and conditions.

However we do not wish you to experience any financial loss as a consequence of this decision, so as an act of goodwill your original deposits have been refunded.

We regret to inform you that we cannot enter into negotiations with you over this matter and thank you for your understanding.

So in other words, this guy abused their bonuses. What happened to "if players meet the wagering requirements and didn't violate the terms and conditions - pay them, then ban them." I guess Vegas Poker was sleeping through "Casino Management 101":

I'll refresh your minds on the segment "Dealing with Players Who Use Bonuses"

    "Casino Management 101"

Dealing with Players Who Use Bonuses

If you offer a player a bonus, and this player meets the wagering requirements - pay her (or him). Please understand, you are not being cheated if a player plays the bonus to the last cent; you are providing that player a unique service - the ability to gamble online. This is your function as a casino, and your mantra should be "Pay the player. Pay the player. Pay the player..." Repeat ad nauseum.

Providing gambling activities online may be your function, but with a bit of creativity and ingenuity you can garner loyalty from this player to keep him or her coming back. The house always wins, and if you are going to survive in this highly competitive industry, you need to see this "win" as a long term goal. Keep your players happy, whether you like their style of play or not, and you will receive your just rewards: respect and loyalty.

    What not to do.

Don't lie to the player. Don't let the player play out a bonus, and then deny the player his winnings when he requests it. To tell a player the following is the wrong approach:

It has been noted that you have not taken part in promotions offered by xyz Casino and its affiliate casino's in the true spirit as intended. From your pattern of play at xyz Casino and other affiliated casino's, it has been noticed that you only generate the sub minimum wager required in order to be entitled to cash out after receiving the bonus.

On at least one other affiliated casino, you again wagered the sub minimum required in order to be allowed to cash out after receiving the bonus and never returned to this casino to play further. When we plan our promotions, the aim is to reward loyal and regular depositing players with FREE bonuses. Unfortunately, your pattern of play across our affiliated casinos has not shown this intention of becoming a loyal and regular depositing player.

As a result, as per our terms and conditions, your initial deposit has been returned to you and all bonuses and winnings have been declared void.
This is a no go. This gives the casino license to pay whomever they want to pay. And to not pay a person who has met the wagering requirements is flat out wrong. I understand and sympathize with casinos which are hammered by bonus players, but if the casino invited them in by offering the bonus then whose fault is that? Casinos who feel victimized need to either review their bonus structure or in the method how these bonuses are handed out.

This email should read as follows:
....Unfortunately, your pattern of play across our affiliated casinos has not shown this intention of becoming a loyal and regular depositing player.

As a result, as per our terms and conditions, your winnings will be honored, but you will not be given further bonuses unless you can convince us that you will become a loyal player.
You can read more of this here:
    http://www.casinomeister.com/newsletter/2006/17february2006.html
    http://www.casinomeister.com/newsletter/2006/23feb2006.html

End note: if the wager requirements were made, but the player broke the terms and conditions, then chalk one up for the casino. But if there were no terms broken, then you should pay up.

Anyway, I hope to receive more information from the casinos concerning this. On the surface it seems as though they are being overzealous on combating the evil bonus abusers. These responses are a bit too "knee-jerkish" in my opinion - but I hope when I receive some more information from them, I can get a better perspective on what's going on.

    And now for the humor......
This guy goes into a doctor's office. The doctor says, "Oh, Mr. Jones! We have the results of your test. Do you want the bad news first or the very bad news?"

The guy shrugs and says, "Well I guess I'll have the bad news first."
"Well the bad news is, you have 24 hours to live," the doctor replies.
The man is distraught, "24 hours to live? That's horrible! What could be worse than that? What's the VERY bad news?"
The doctor folds his hands and sighs, "The very bad news is...I've been trying to contact you since yesterday."
