TRAGEDY IN THE SOUTH

In my opinion, it's only getting worse. My heart goes out to everyone affected by hurricane Katrina. The aftermath is a heartrending tragedy that is extremely difficult to fathom. Besides the thousands that have probably died, there is an estimate that over 400,000 jobs have been lost. I hope that some of you will find the time to make a donation to the American Red Cross, Feed the Children, or choose an organization to help out here.

VEGAS HERE I COME!

Vortran will be at the helm next week while I meander about beginning Saturday in Las Vegas. I'll be checking out the CAC (Casino Affiliate Convention) and the G2E (Global Gaming Exposition). These are two of the best casino conferences back to back. I've been covering the CAC every year since it's inception; this is my 5th consecutive year covering the G2E. My mission? To gather information.

At the CAC, it's important for me to meet up with the operators who show up. When player problems arise, the operators are my problem solvers, and in some cases - the problem makers.

At the G2E, it's important for me to check out the different software providers and licensing jurisdictions who show. They are also my main points of contact for player issues as well. And what is better yet, one can get a good feel on where this industry is heading by observing and talking to the right people.

I'm also looking for interesting poker stuff. As some of you know, I write for Bluff Magazine as "the Dude" and one thing I cover is cool poker merchandise. Chocolates shaped like poker chips, instructional DVDs on how to play poker, poker relaxation tapes, all this sort of stuff. So these are some of things I'm looking for.

And you, my dear ${token2}, if you are aware of something cool and interesting that has to do with poker, please pop me an email, and I'll check it out. It might even get reviewed in the magazine.
