  • WORD FROM THE MEISTER
    PLAYTECH BACK ON BOARD
For those of you who have been with me for a while probably remember the falling out I had last July with Playtech. It was over a number of issues that I was concerned about, and I made the decision to remove Playtech powered casinos from Casinomeister's listings here: http://www.casinomeister.com/casinos.html. I was adamant that I would not bring on any Playtech powered casinos back on until the issues I had were either answered or rectified.

Well, after a few months of uncomfortable silence, some of the Playtech operators who were a bit disappointed in the entire situation, pushed Playtech and me back to the pow wow table, and we began to talk. I spoke about my concerns - and this had to deal mainly with player safety - and they spoke about some communication problems that they had with me.

You may remember some of my concerns. One issue was that it appeared that Club Dice casino was operating without a license. According to the Antiguan Directorate of Online Gaming's website, their license had expired. I picked up the phone and called the Antiguan office and they confirmed this. What they didn't tell me, was that Club Dice was authorized to operate during an interim period in which they were changing their internal corporate structure. Thanks Antigua, not!

Playtech and I also spoke about a dispute section to be set up for players of Playtech casinos. Admittingly so, this is a big step for Playtech, and I am pleased that they are willing to reach out to the players and offer their services to assist. It's not fully functional yet, so I'll wait for them to iron out any glitches before they decide to announce this - but it's reassuring that Playtech is making this move.

So at this time, I'm satisfied that Playtech is taking a more active roll in providing players with an environment conducive to a more pleasurable gaming experience. That's what this industry is all about, isn't it? Providing positive experiences for players? Yeah, I think so.

WHAT'S UP WITH CRYSTAL PALACE? PT. III
Well, I think probation time is about over:

Here's the problem: the Crystal Palace Casinos don't like "bonus abusers", "bonus whores", "advantage players", whatever you want to call them — but this group of casinos attracts them like flies.

Like I mentioned in earlier additions of this newsletter, there have been a number of complaints from players having their accounts locked and booted from the casino. Why? Because they have been banned from a "Crystal Palace" casino in the past. Now the problem is that some of these players have been told not to come back, but they sign up at another one of these casinos sometimes using a different username or email address and they get back in. I find it absurd that a player would knowingly do this - especially if they knew they would be banned -- but who knows what going through some players minds.

But the I think the crux of the problem is this: players don't know which casinos fall under the roof of Crystal Palace. I was told by their manager that: "We have noticed a pattern in recent times of players abusing bonuses across the different sites we manage and have thus amended our terms and conditions so that if a player is banned in one of our sites, they are ineligible for promotions in the other casinos." Sure that's fine and dandy, but how are players supposed to know which casinos these are? I have given Crystal Palace ample time to post a list clearly in their T&Cs, (which would take a programer about a half-an-hour to do), but nothing has been done.

I do not condone any player to hammer away at any group of casinos, and I support the fact that casinos reserve the right to chose whomever they want to play. But rules are rules. If a casino chooses to ban a player - pay the player what he is owed. If he met the wagering requirements, pay him, then discontinue offering him bonuses, or send him "special" bonuses. If you ban him across all casino properties, make sure the player knows which ones to avoid, and don't keep offering these players more bonus coupons. It doesn't make any sense. Or does it...

If you have been banned from one of these casinos do not sign up at another because you won't get paid. Until the Crystal Palace gets with the program, they'll be listed in Casinomeister's Not Recommended Section.

    And now for the humor......
One night a police officer was staking out a particularly rowdy bar for possible DUI violations. At closing time, he saw a fellow tumble out of the bar, trip on the curb, and try his keys in five different cars before he found his. Then he sat in the front seat fumbling around with his keys for several minutes. Everyone else left the bar and drove off. Finally he started his engine and began to pull away. The police officer was waiting for him. He stopped the driver, read him his rights and administered the Breathalyzer test. The results showed a reading of 0.0.

The puzzled officer demanded to know how that could be.

The driver replied, "Tonight I'm the designated decoy."
