LAS VEGAS 2005

I do not gloat...

Day two of the CAC got off to a great start. It was another early morning wake-up for me, relatively speaking. I partook in the Wynn's breakfast buffet which was one of the best I've had. Whatever you want - they have it. So I had some yummy Chinese noodles, Eggs Benedict, sausage, and fresh squeezed orange juice for breakfast. What a way to start a day.

I made it to the Stardust and mingled about a bit; the conference was just kicking off. I was happy to consume coffee and chit chat with several people who actually care about what I do. But then I ran into someone who had been meaning to sit down with me to have a pow-wow, and we decided to have an impromptu meeting in the lobby area. Fine and dandy. He was the representative for a casino group that has had a very checkered past at Casinomeister.

A few months ago, I received a friendly email from Todd Pelow, the Executive VP of WebMediaOne. He mentioned that we had met briefly a few times in the past, but he was working for another company and therefore in a different position. He also mentioned that he had taken on a client that had been rogued at Casinomeister some time back, and he was hoping to talk about this.

After I received his email, I checked out his site and said to myself, "Oh, bejesus. What the hell?" it was the Goldbetting group of casinos.

Several years ago, I was involved with a series of non-payment disputes with these casinos, and with a manager who wasn't really what he seemed to be. There was also an issue of their slots using names and images that belong to IGT (International Game Technologies). And these problems began to snowball; the relationship between me and Goldbetting got ugly. We pretty much severed communication two years ago.

So now I was sitting there with Todd representing these casinos, and he's wondering what it takes to get off of the Rogue list. I told him it isn't all that easy. I need to know what changes have been made since roguedom, and that any previous wrongs have been righted. The casino also needs to be committed to resolve any player issue past or present. And we drank coffee from Starbucks while we discussed this.

There seems to be a online casino myth that eludes me. This myth implies that I only need to be bought a beer or two to get off the rogue list. You see - coffee works just as well.

So I am willing to put these guys on probation for six months. If anyone has an issue with the following sites - Goldbetting.com, LadyDream.com, PlayersVegas.com, CasinoLuckyDog.com, DiamondGal.com, GrandCasino.com, TopLineBingo.com, Bet-Search.com, or EazyPay.com, contact me as soon as possible via here: (and if you are viewing this newsletter in text format - please go to the main site to read this. You're missing all of the links - many of which are very cool and informative).

The morning segued into lunch. A nice one at that - Sushi again, and with the webmaster of BetOnCharity who gave me some ideas on how to get involved with donating funds to the Hurricane victims in the states. I'm coming up with something - so stay tuned on that.

After lunch, I had another interesting meeting - this time with representatives from Casinobar. As some of you may recall, I had a run-in with the Casinobar casinos a couple of years ago when Michael Shackleford (aka the Wizard of Odds) analyzed their software and claimed it was cheating in Blackjack. The folks at COA (Casinobar and Casino-on-air's software provider) were not happy with what Michael or I had to say. I was simply reporting on Michael's findings and became a target of COA's lawyers.

Anyway, I knew these two individuals from another company that they used to work for, so they are not strangers to me. And they had rather high profile important jobs back then, so their integrity is not in question. They know that they have a reputation at risk, but they feel that they have done due diligence and are on the right track. They spoke about that there are new owners of the company, and they will be using new software. They are in the process of having Michael review this software (or at least he will be soon), and wanted to know if I would be willing to report on whatever Michael concludes with, and go from there. No problem, I said. If Michael finds that the new software functions fairly, I'll let people know - if he thinks it's screwy, I'll let people know as well too. Life isn't all that difficult.

It was time to take a break. And looking at my watch I saw that I had a little bit of time to goof off, heh heh. So I slipped out into the casino where I knew they had MY game, Multi-Strike Poker. I plopped down and began playing $5 a hand at Deuces Wild, and within about 10 minutes I got a big time shock. On the top row, I was given four deuces pat. Which is 1000 quarters x 8 = 8000/4 = $2000. I could hardly believe it, but it was the meister mojo y'know. And it required a hand payout, which was fun. But I had to wait about a half an hour while they filled out tax forms and what-not. And since I live in Germany and pay German taxes, I was allowed to keep the entire amount since winnings are not taxed in Germany. Ain't I lucky?

So I was late for the panel discussion, the FREE BEER panel discussion. At every CAC, it's the panel discussion that concludes the show, and it is catered by beer. Everyone gets a lot of free ice cold beer which more or less guarantees a high turnout. I'm always there, either on the panel or chillin' in the audience. It was nice this time chillin'. I was all stoked. I almost grabbed the microphone and announced my winnings, but gloating ain't my style. But then I am writing about it now, aren't I?

And then the convention was over. Another round of applause for Marc Lesnick and staff for making it a very successful event - as usual. I'm already looking forward to Amsterdam this Spring.

Next stop - the Global Gambling Exposition. Scroll down to find out what was up with that...
