weekly

Dear ${token1},

It's still the holiday season where I'm at, and will remain so until sometime next week when I decide to start seriously working again. Sorry if my emails are slower than the usual slow, but that's just the way it is this time of year. The days are dark and snowy - and at night it's friggin' cold. It's really hard to pull oneself out of the grogginess and start pounding away on the keyboard (in front of my computer). Hell, I'm getting sleepy just writing this newsletter - and I'm probably putting you to sleep as well. So I better get on with it.

Hibernatingly yours,

Bryan

    WORD FROM THE MEISTER
WHAT'S UP WITH GRAND PRIVE CASINOS?
This week, a promo was sent to their players offering a 100% match bonus for a $50 deposit. Well at least one player made his deposit, but the casino removed the bonus stating "As per management decision, all bonuses have been withdrawn from your account until further notice from management."

This may seem to be a minor thing, but this "after the fact" removal of a bonus is really a serious matter. The problem with this action is that by the player's act of making the deposit - he is agreeing to the terms, and thus should be allowed to play out the bonus per the casino's terms.

For a casino to remove the bonus after the player has been offered the bonus and made the deposit is "bad casino practice" in my opinion. This can be construed of tricking players into making deposits. I do not believe that this is the case in this situation, but it can be interpreted as such.

The casino has all of the power in the world to make special offers to which ever player suits their fancy. To me, this looks like the right hand not knowing what the left hand is doing - as in "oops! didn't mean to send that particular player that offer - renege the deal!" Sorry that doesn't cut it.

It's the casino's prerogative to choose not to give whomever a bonus and send them on their merry way. But these players should be identified before the offer is made - not after. I hope this casino group gets it's act together and takes care of this in the appropriate manner.

    FORUM HIGHLIGHTS
Two of the most entertaining threads that appeared this week in our forum were "What ever happened to? recap of 2005"
    http://www.casinomeister.com/forums/online-casinos/10515-a-what-ever-happened-to-recap-05-a.html
And "The Most Prominent Posters of '05"
    http://www.casinomeister.com/forums/online-casinos/10603-the-most-prominent-posters-05-a.html
Both of these threads really give a good feel on some of the more interesting personal events of 2005. It's been a long year and much has happened in it. Thanks to "JohnSteed" who initiated these well thought out threads.
    YEAR'S END
Yep, it's just about that time to slap together the Casinomeister Awards for 2005. Obviously, there will be the coveted Best Casino/Worst Casino, Best Casino Group/Worst Casino Group, etc., but this year there will be a number of new categories - some of these created especially for those casinos that went up and beyond the call to duty, or just did an incredibly miserable job at something. Hang tight to your seats because "the only awards that matter" are in the making...
    SLOT JUNKIES WHERE YOU AT?
Slots!! Slots!! and more Slots!! Hey, there's a tournament you need to get involved with if you're into slots! It's at Slotjunkies.info, and it's probably one of the most ingenious and fun tourneys to get involved with.

The Slot Junkies Challenges are a unique concept whereby players can opt into competitions for their favourite casino games and join in a community of like-minded players. Each month, casinos sponsor certain games and put up prizes for the best win, backed up by a screenshot, during the month.

The winning screenshots are those which show the highest win, based on the number of coins won rather than the actual amount. This gives the "low-rollers" a fairer chance to compete. The first prize each month will vary from game to game and the prize allocation is displayed for each game when you enter the Player Lounge. Second and Third place prizes are also usually available.

    And now for the humor......
Something to think about on New Year's Eve:

    ...or maybe not.

Warning: Consumption of alcohol may make you think you are whispering when you are not.

Warning: Consumption of alcohol is a major factor in dancing like a wanker.

Warning: Consumption of alcohol may cause you to tell the same boring story over and over again until your friends want to smash your face in.

Warning: Consumption of alcohol may lead you to believe that ex-lovers are really dying for you to telephone them at 4 in the morning.

Warning: Consumption of alcohol may leave you wondering what the hell happened to your clothes.

Warning: Consumption of alcohol may make you think you can logically converse with other members of the opposite sex without spitting.

Warning: Consumption of alcohol may cause you to roll over in the morning and see something really scary (whose name, and/or species you can't remember).

Warning: Consumption of alcohol is the leading cause of inexplicable rug burns on the forehead.

Warning: Consumption of alcohol may lead to traffic signs and cones appearing in your home.

Warning: Consumption of alcohol may lead you to believe you are invisible.

Warning: Consumption of alcohol may make you think you possess mystical Kung-Fu powers.

Warning: Consumption of alcohol may lead you to believe that people are laughing with you.

Warning: Consumption of alcohol may cause an influx in the time-space continuum, whereby small (and sometimes large) gaps of time may seem to literally disappear.

Warning: Consumption of alcohol may actually cause pregnancy.
