| MAJOR BUMMER IN SUNNY LAND! | |||||||||
|
The Sunny Group of casinos, Mapau Casino, Casino Fortune, and Miami Beach Casino, have been around for a long time. The were even awarded the coveted "Best Casino Group of 2001" by Casinomeister for their support of the Children With Aids program. But since then, many of us in the gaming community have witnessed odd goings on with the Sunny Group. At the moment, there is a big squabble about the Sunny Casino group using copyrighted text from bet2gamble.com. Unfortunately this had a snowball effect whereas Bet2gamble's C.M. Booth approached John Abbott at Gonegambling.com to arbitrate a compensation of around $500. The Sunny group clammed up until things escalated to the point where Gone Gambling dumped the Sunny Group. And what a bummer for everyone involved. Bet2gamble gets jerked around, Gonegambling drops a major client, and the Sunny Group has when hell of a damage control assignment. That noise you hear is the Sunny Group trying to stomp this fire out all the way from Trinidad. What gets me is that all of this could have been avoided. If you go to Casinomeister, you'll notice that it's quite different than what it looked like before. I was tired of the old Casinomeister look, and I really didn't have any ideas for something new. So what did I do? I spent some time searching the web looking at differing websites for design ideas (no gambling sites mind you). I found a site that I really liked, the design was good and I thought I could implement this at Casinomeister. I lifted the HTML and fooled with it a bit, working with my images and color scheme. When I was satisfied that this would work, I did one last thing -- I ASKED THE WEBMASTER IF I COULD USE HIS DESIGN. He promptly replied, giving me permission to not only use it, but the templates and stylesheets to make it work. In fact, he was flattered that I wanted to use his material. Ask and you shall receive. I thought we all learned this in Kindergarten. You'd be surprised what people will give you if you just ask for it. I try to teach my kids not to whine for candy, or Barney, but to ask nicely. If you ask someone for something with a pleasant voice and a smilely face, you'll usually get just about anything within reason. And this applies to adulthood and the web. I've been asked by fellow webmasters whether or not the could use some of my material; no problem if credit is given where credit is due. There is no excuse for this to happen between the Sunny Group and Bet2gamble. If only the Sunny Group had asked to use his material, I'm sure none of this would have had to happen, and everything would have been honky dory. You can read more about this here. |

A few weeks ago, I made an announcement that I had been in communication with representatives from the notorious Virtual Casino group. They were intent on cleaning up their act, and wanted to address any player problems that came to them via me. Great! I thought, but since then what a disappointment. It was a short lived attempt on their part to get their ducks in order. They are motivated to clean up their image mainly because they are trying to recruit webmasters to become their affiliates. So sorry to say, if you have a legitimate complaint against one of their casinos, you might as well pick up a phone and dial 1-800-IVE-BEEN-SCREWED |

Return to Top 3. This week's humor A lawyer and a blonde are sitting next to each other on a long flight from LA to NY. The lawyer leans over to her and asks if she would like to play a fun game. The blonde just wants to take a nap, so she politely declines and rolls over to the window to catch a few winks. The lawyer persists and explains that the game is really easy and a lot of fun. He explains" I ask you a question, and if you don't know the answer, you pay me $5, and vice-versa." Again, she politely declines and tries to get some sleep. The lawyer, now somewhat agitated, says, "Okay, if you don't know the answer you pay me $5, and if I don't know the answer, I will pay you $500!." Figuring that since she is a blonde that he will easily win the match. This catches the blonde's attention and, figuring that there will be no end to this torment unless she plays, agrees to the game. The lawyer asks the first question. "What's the distance from the earth to the moon?" The blonde doesn't say a word, reaches in to her purse, pulls out a five dollar bill and hands it to the lawyer. Now, it's the blonde's turn. She asks the lawyer: "What goes up a hill with three legs, and comes down with four?" The lawyer looks at her with a puzzled look. He takes out his laptop computer and searches all his references. He taps into the Airphone with his modem and searches the Net and the Library of Congress. Frustrated, he sends E-mails to all his coworkers and friends he knows. All to no avail. After over an hour, he wakes the blonde and hands her $500. The blonde politely takes the $500 and turns away to get back to sleep. The lawyer, who is more than a little miffed, wakes the blonde and asks, "Well, so what IS the answer!?" Without a word, the blonde reaches into her purse, hands the lawyer $5, and goes back to sleep. ha ha ha | |||||||||

THESE NUMBERS ARE NO THUMBSUCK Most online gamblers have seen the detailed monthly reports of percentage payouts for individual casinos, but many do not realise how valuable this information is, or how much time and professional care goes into its preparation. The pioneers of the process, called Total Gaming Transaction Review (TGTR)©, were multi-national professional services group PricewaterhouseCoopers (PwC) and turnkey software provider Microgaming. The process was subsequently adopted by other software providers such as Boss Media, Casino On Net and Cryptologic. The program is well named because it requires the independent collation and full analysis of all game transaction data, for all games on each casino and for all currencies. Rigorous validation and balance checks authenticate the data throughout the process. PwC, which operates in 150 countries in 24 diverse market sectors and has a staff of some 160,000 has explained the process in detail: Data Collection: Each and every bet and payout transaction at all casinos is recorded on a dedicated server each day throughout the month, working from midnight at the beginning of the month to midnight at the end of the month. This data is double validated to ensure that no information is missing by balancing the data on the dedicated server to that on each live gaming server. In addition, further checks are performed by balancing the dedicated server data with the casino operator database. Financial Reconciliation: However, this is not the end of the process. An independent financial reconciliation is then carried out by PwC to confirm the Closing Balance for each casino. This is done by balancing the total wagered and payout amounts to movements on players account balances. This Calculated Closing Balance is then matched to the Actual Closing Balance, which is the sum of all players' balances on the casino's live gaming server at exactly midnight on the final day of the month. In the event that the data is not complete or incorrect, the reconciliation as mentioned above will not balance and PwC will perform further investigations on all differences. No reports are issued for casinos with unresolved differences. Other sophisticated techniques such as trend analysis and bet volumes are routinely used to ensure consistency and that all figures are in line with the norm. Percentage Payout Report: Only when these exhaustive tests are complete will PwC prepare and publish the percentage payout reports for each casino. Reports are only issued to casino's where PwC are satisfied that all reconciliation's balance and trends are explained. More articles like this in our news section.
