The GPWA I'm no longer a member of the Gambling Portal Webmaster's Association. I quit the organization mainly because many of the active members have a different philosophy and attitude concerning the online casino industry that doesn't mix with mine too well. What has really turned me off is this phenomena that is rampant in this industry called "affiliate greed", and it seems to be widespread in the GPWA. I guess the catalyst for this was the uproar most everyone from the GPWA had over the scheduling of the Gator speaker at the Affiliate Conference that's scheduled (still) next month. The GPWA has been very vocal against the use of "scumware" (which I whole heartily support), but they all jumped on this bandwagon screaming "boycott-boycott!!" Fine and dandy, boycott the event. But what really pisses me off, is that I suggested that these webmasters ought to boycott advertising for a software provider that condones unscrupulous and at times criminal activities – it was pooh-poohed. Hey, but when traffic and profits are threatened, they cry foul! There are a vast number of webmasters there that don’t flinch at throwing up a gazillion brain-dead banner farmed portal clones and beg visitors to "join" a casino and get their 25-35% cut of the player losses. But if anyone tries to weasel in on their traffic, they freak! I am so sick of this greedy industry and the types of individuals that associate themselves with it. Look at the big picture. What’s worse; scumware – or turning the Internet into a giant frigging billboard? And what’s worse, Joe the player sees this and sits back laughing at the affiliate webmasters who are making this big stink. Two evils battling it out in public. And if the shoe fits, wear it. Don’t get me wrong, there are a lot of really good webmasters out there (and members of the GPWA) that promote casinos and are accountable for their actions. They provide content that augments and gives this industry more credence, and are seriously involved with the industry trying to make it a better place. They know who they are. But there are a number of webmasters who spend far too much time in other peoples’ portals arguing about this or that in other people’s message boards, when they should be concentrating on their own "portal", policing it up and ensuring that they are promoting legitimate enterprises. I understand that this is a business for these portal owners, and many of them are motivated by profits, but there is a certain amount of responsibility that goes with this. I was just not seeing it as often as I’d like. So in essence, there is a conflicting attitude and philosophy that are embedded in the GPWA -- and these are attitudes and philosophies that I care not to be a part of. From last week, but it still applies: Remember the player who is owed $28,000 from "Welcome to Our Casino"? Well she still hasn't been paid yet. And let me reiterate: if you are a player of any RTG casino, this could easily happen to you. There is no road to take if you find yourself in the same position. You only have the word of the casino that you will be treated fairly. And in most cases, their word is worth about as much as an Iraqi Dinar right now. Presently, I am calling for everyone to not patronize the casinos listed in my rogue section, or that fall into this catagory: Virtual Group http://www.casinomeister.com/rogue/virtual.html Angelciti Group http://www.casinomeister.com/rogue/angelciti.html Vegas Strip Group http://www.casinomeister.com/rogue/vegasstrip.html Windows Casino http://www.casinomeister.com/rogue/windowscasino.html Any Safebet Casinos http://www.casinomeister.com/rogue/safebet.html Any Egamingcommission Casinos http://www.casinomeister.com/rogue/egamingcommission.html Doesn't leave many left to play at, does it? I am also refusing to handle or negotiate any more casino complaints concerning RTG powered casinos. So if you choose to play at an RTG casino, please keep this in mind. Attention Affiliates As an affiliate, you are promoting the casino and most anything they stand for. If the casino is knowingly associating themselves with bogus awards or player safety nets, it's wrong. If you are promoting these types of sites, you are wrong as well. There is a certain amount of responsibility that you must undertake if you are promoting online casinos. Don't let the power of the dollar inhibit good judgement. |

Return to Top 3. This week's humor I know it's old, but it's one of my favorites: The new inmate at the mental hospital announced in a loud voice that he was the famous British naval hero, Lord Nelson. This was particularly interesting, because the institution already had a "Lord Nelson." The head psychiatrist, after due consideration, decided to put the two men in the same room, feeling that the similarity of their delusions might prompt an adjustment in each that would help in curing them. It was a calculated risk, of course, for the two men might react violently to one another, but they were introduced and then left alone and no disturbance was heard from the room that night. The next morning, the doctor had a talk with his new patient and was more than pleasantly surprised when he was told: "Doctor, I've been suffering from a delusion. I know now that I am not Lord Nelson." "That's wonderful," said the doctor. "Yes," said the patient, smiling demurely, "I'm Lady Nelson." ha ha ha | |||||||||
