Well, I'm back from the Las Vegas Global Gaming Exposition, and all in one piece,
mind you; back from the nickle machines, the nice waitresses, the shows
(if you have a chance to check out the Blue Man Group http://www.blueman.com
you must go!). And what a pleasant stay it was in the NY, NY Hotel. Of course,
the best part was meeting the people; Spearmaster, Hitmob, OPAMary, Wizard
of Odds, and all the others I've been in contact with via the online casino world.
It was a lot of fun.
And I was happy that I didn't "donate" too much $ to the great Silver State.
In fact, I nearly came out even when I left. But upon leaving Las Vegas, a state trooper
gave me the opportunity to make a $140 donation. I guess he didn't buy my excuse
that I was used to driving on the Autobahn (but it's true!). Oh well, easy come,
easy go.
And it's been a busy couple of weeks since I've been back. A lot has happened since
then...major stuff in the news, GSS name change, Microgaming casino changeovers,
US Online Gaming Prohibition bill struck down. Lot's of stuff...stay tuned.
Informatively yours,
Bryan

*^*^*^*^*^*^*^*^*^*^*^*^*^*^*^*^*^*^*^*^*^*^*^*^*^*^*^*^ 2. And now for the humor......
A priest is walking down the street one day when he notices a
very small boy trying to press a doorbell on a house across
the street.
However, the boy is very small and the doorbell is too high
for him to reach.
After watching the boys efforts for some time, the priest
moves closer to the boy's position.
He steps smartly across the street, walks up behind the
little fellow and, placing his hand kindly on the child's
shoulder leans over and gives the doorbell a solid ring.
Crouching down to the child's level, the priest smiles
benevolently and asks, "And now what, my little man?"
To which the boy replies, "Now we run!"

*^*^*^*^*^*^*^*^*^*^*^*^*^*^*^*^*^*^*^*^*^*^*^*^*^*^*^*^ 3. On a more serious note:
Miss America vs Miss Afghanistan (Author Unknown)
On the left is Katie Harmon, Miss America, wearing the swimsuit she chose
for the competition. On the right is a typical Afghan girl, wearing the heavy smothering
burqua as required by the oppressive Taliban regime.
Miss America is a junior at Portland State University, hoping to
eventually get a Master's degree in Bioethics.
Miss Afghanistan is forbidden from receiving any education at all, and cannot read or write.
Miss America has worked as a lab assistant at both the Oregon Health Sciences
University and the University of Puget Sound.
Miss Afghanistan is forbidden from working.
Miss America's father is an engineer. Her mother is a teacher.
Miss Afghanistan's father was shot by a gang of Taliban militants. Her
mother begs for bread scraps since she cannot work or remarry.
Miss America wowed the judges by singing a Puccini aria, "O Mio Babbino
Caro".
Miss Afghanistan is forbidden from singing or even listening to music of
any kind.
Miss America will be traveling the nation nonstop during her reign.
Miss Afghanistan cannot leave her house without a male family member,
cannot drive, and cannot be out after dark.
Miss America is an advocate for breast cancer research.
Miss Afghanistan cannot be treated by a male doctor, and for all
practical purposes has no access to medical treatment of any kind.
Miss America can date, marry, or divorce anyone she chooses.
Miss Afghanistan will be stoned to death if caught in the company of a
male outside of her family. She is likely to be sold into an arranged
marriage to a man who already has two wives.
Miss America wears sunscreen on the beach to keep from burning.
Miss Afghanistan cannot live in a house with windows unless they are
painted black. Since she must wear a burqua outside, her pale translucent
skin has not seen a ray of sunlight in years.
Miss America could have been disqualified if her swimsuit did not meet
pageant standards.
Miss Afghanistan can be flogged if the holes in the mesh covering her
face are too large.
Miss America will decide how many children, if any, she wants to have.
Miss Afghanistan will be pregnant 3-4 times more often than Miss America.
Unfortunately, her babies are 25 times more likely to die in the first
year. One out of four will not see their 5th birthday.
Miss America is majoring in speech communications at PSU.
Miss Afghanistan is forbidden from speaking in public.
Miss America is 21. Since the U.S. life expectancy for women is 80, she's
still a very young woman.
Miss Afghanistan is also 21. But since the life expectancy for an Afghan
woman is 43, next year she will be "over-the-hill". (Besides having a
shockingly short life expectancy overall, Afghanistan is one of the only
countries in the world in which women have a shorter life expectancy than
men)
Miss America is a beautiful, intelligent woman and everyone knows it.
Miss Afghanistan could be a beautiful, intelligent woman, ... but nobody
will ever know it.
God Bless Miss America
God Help Miss Afghanistan

Casinomeister's Forum: Online Casino Complaints: Playtech
blackjack game
------------------------------------------------------------
By dorrex (dorrex) on Wednesday, October 17, 2001 - 05:31
pm:
I would like you're opinions on the playtech Blackjack
game. I have played at Club Dice and Swiss casino and I
wasn't impressed with both of them. I lost at both casino's
very quickly making only 2 dollar bets. Losing streaks of
5-7 hand happen very frequently and I lost 90% of my
doubling action. What would happen frequently the dealer
would win 3-4 hand I would win 1-3 and then the dealer
would win 3-4 and so on.
Basically every hundred dollars wagered my bankroll would
always decrease, never go up. Fortunately they allow you to
withdraw your deposit without wagering it or I would have lost big.
at club dice I only lasted 150 hands and at Swiss casino I
lasted 250 hands before I lost the $50 dollar bonus.
HAS ANYONE PLAYED THERE AND IF SO WHAT WAS YOUR EXPERIENCE
I'm sticking with global player

*^*^*^*^*^*^*^*^*^*^*^*^*^*^*^*^*^*^*^*^* 7. So, what's new in the Got2bet world?
Well to begin with, The Financial Anti-Terrorism Act of 2001, a bill aiming to combat
terrorism by cracking down on money laundering, was passed on the 16th of October
in the U.S. House of Representatives with no provision regarding Internet gambling.
This provision provided quite a stir among the online gaming industry since it would
have made it illegal for anyone residing in the US to receive funds from an Online Casino.
It's on hold for now, but this is something everyone should be keeping their eye on.
If you are a US citizen and enjoy playing at online casinos, it may behoove you to
contact your representatives and let them know how you feel about this. Evidently, they
are lumping together terrorists laundering money with the likes of Peggy Smith in
Silver Springs Colorado, playing Wowpot at Colosseum Casino. Make yourself
heard before it's too late. http://www.house.gov/writerep/
<a href="http://www.house.gov/writerep/">AOL</a>
GSS (Gamblingsoftware.com) has reemerged as Thrive Media. Many of you have probably
forgotten the problems that players had with GSS last year. And GSS can be considered
scoundrels of the online gaming industry. Their casinos (there is a list of them in our Rogue
Casino section) are still being boycotted by the Online Players Association, and for good
reasons.
But why the name change?
Well, perhaps the most often stated reasons businesses give for making such
changes are:
1. The name / logo is stale. Everyone's bored with it. (Read: The
president is bored with it.)
2. The company needs to change with the times. (Read: The company
has made a number of stupid moves and is in trouble, so the
executives want to be seen to be 'doing something'.)
3. The company is shifting into a completely unrelated field, and
needs to be distanced from their past stance. (Hmmm, could this be it?)
I wonder what GSS' excuse is?
Nevertheless, it has been reported that there is undeniable proof that
Gamblingsoftware.com (GSS), created software that allows their casinos
to offer Video Poker games that can be “rigged”. This is a story in development
and everything will be disclosed on the next Gamemaster's show at Casinogazette.
GSS is a member of the IGC and you'll hear what they have to say about it also.
Stay tuned...
The "Rogue Casino" section http://www.casinomeister.com/rogue.html
<a href="http://www.casinomeister.com/rogue.html">AOL</a> was created
specifically with casinos like The Golden Palace in mind. The Golden Palace was
the first casino entered there and for good reasons. I'll refresh your memory.
The Golden Palace confiscated dozens of players accounts on the premise
that they were "bonus abusers". They were only playing bonuses and that was it.
There were no "ifs" "ands" or "buts" and the casino became unresponsive (they never
addressed any of my questions, nor did they make any attempt to answer any
players complaints that were forwarded to them. But wait, there is more:
When the OPA got involved, Mark Francis, head of security, (who has a criminal
record, mind you) called players at home and issued threats. Threats were made
to Steve Adkins and his family members. Damage was done to property at his home.
The reason that there are no postings about GP in our forum during this time period
is that many members contacted me and insisted that I remove the threads because
they feared for their safety. This coincided with Steve's show on
<a href="http://www.casinogazette.com">AOL</a> http://www.casinogazette.com
and stopped when the OPA ceased making announcements
about Golden Palace and affiliated sites.
When there was a flurry of complaints about this casino (Oct/November 2000) they switched
from Microgaming to another gaming software developer, Cytech.
Unfortunately, several other Microgaming casinos have now switched over to the same
developer, or Oddson (there seems to be some relationship here, but it's not yet clear),
and there is no clear indication that Golden Palace is associated with them. But I would
proceed with caution dealing with the following casinos:
Silver Dollar Casino
English Harbor
Geisha Lounge
King Solomons
Lucky Liner
Microgaming is offering a $500,000 reward to anyone who provides evidence that their code
is being used by other developers.
