THE FUTURE OF ONLINE GAMBLING |
The future is becoming less obscure...while gazing into my cyber-crystal ball. Actually, I've been able to figure this out by paying attention to what was being said at the last two conferences I've attended: the GiGSE in San Francisco (click here for the review) and the Asian i-Gaming Conference in Macau (check it out here). The future is all about social interaction - it's happening now with this newsletter, and continues when some of you link to it via your Facebook account or read about it somewhere online. As webmasters, we are constantly interacting with others via the web, so are your players - and especially future players. The next generation of players have never known the world without smartphones, YouTube, or Facebook.
Software developers are coming to realize this, and are beginning to search for their proverbial thinking caps. Poker is a no brainer - it's already "social". And so is bingo (more or less) - it has social aspects. But what about video poker or slots? How non-social can you get? Sure we have tournaments and multi-player screens, but this is old school. Software developers are going to have to create a completely new approach to video poker/slots - something so revolutionary that it will blow us away.
Or will it be you, my fellow webmaster, who has a mind blowing epiphany that turns these non-social games on their heads. All it's going to take is a bitchin' idea - I haven't thought of it yet. And you'll hear about it if I do (after it's properly trademarked and patented )
Perhaps in Dublin we can brainstorm on this a bit. You are going, aren't you? If not, what a bummer since it's free for affiliates and there are a lot of people that you should be meeting. Yeah, I know it's expensive to fly and getting away from your day job may be a hassle. But the iGaming Supershow is really one of the best conferences of the year.
If you are going to be there, give me a shout out and say "hi" if you spot me staggering around.

Penguin!! Google on the 24th April quickly followed up their latest Panda rollout with their new Webspam Algorithm, which they have called Penguin.
There has as a result been major changes in the serps, with many big sites plummeting like stones and other sites rising to the top. Check it out here
