When I read this I did not find anything mean spirited about it. It seemingly is a person trying to explain their way of thinking. This particular thread did not show greasemonkey being hurtful or flaming or in anyway disrespectful. Was there another associated thread that included this from him? what am I missing?
He isn't mean spirited at all. Just frustrated trying to answer the same stupid questions and with good answers over and over. Anyone with half a brain can see which way the wind blows in here and in so many other places in America which by the way has gotten us into this dreadful situation to begin with.
As has been said many times by as many people (most of which are banned or run off), the rules here are to be followed by some and broken by others and no matter how many come in and say it aint so, it is so and it's as plain as the nose on your face.
And btw I've been watching Jetset come in at the end of these skirmishes for a couple of years now like a disappointed father making us ashamed of ourselves . This time however, he said he was enjoying the conversation and so I'm with him, the approving father.

Is this a slam and a compliment all in one paragraph?
Anyways, I do hope greasemonkey returns. He had some good debating points in his last post. I haven't found anyones' opinions "stupid", "silly", or posted by anyone with "half a brain". Yes, there are rules here, but most are of the most basic of common courteousy. And unless they advertise, how do we know that some of the "antagonists" (as some would like to call them) aren't being dealt with in a likewise manner behind the scenes?
It's one thing to stand up for what you believe in, but it's another thing when you do it in a manner which becomes demeaning and condescending. This was a topic which was bringing in new and old members to a great civilized debate! Please don't derail it further with hidden innuedos. Now, would someone/anyone like to please get us back on track? Is anyone here on a friendly basis outside of casinomeister with greasemonkey? Anyone know how to get in contact with him and let him know he is welcome back?
What "stupid" questions are you referring to? I must admit....that remark certainly appears mean spirited. Just because someone sees things differently, doesn't make anything they say or ask "stupid".
I'm also not sure what you mean by the rules comment. Certainly can't see anything as "clearly as one's nose" like you do. Perhaps you could explain that part?
I guess you don't know when to quit. I think I've handed out enough warnings and made enough statements about flaming and harassing members....
One of the best examples is you Nifty. Many times over these posts you say things along the lines of the Rich not paying enough taxes and the "poor" paying too much or being treated badly or Rich loathing of poor. That type of thing. Greasemonkey has shown every which way how that is incorrect and you always come back to it without any proof or reasoning. You just blurt out something along the lines of poor being treated badly and needing more help and not having enough to survive, etc. It is just wrong and no matter how many times you are shown this based on stats and facts you always come back to the same basic premise and it is just not correct. I don't know how he doesnt just blow a gasket when proving it over and over and over to you guys and you come back with the same stuff and no proof.
Also, your delivery is smarmy and arrogant. I said as much when I flamed you then left the board for a while (I just got my punishment today for that oddly). So the things that Felicie is saying is exactly correct from where I can view it.
It's not just you Nifty. It is so many on the left on this board. This is not personal, I am just explaining it because it really is as plain as day to me.
Thank you janek12 I stand corrected, as I said it was sent in and email, and I don't normally post this type of thing...
On a personal level, I recently had to swallow my pride and make a visit to my local Social Services department to see if I could get some type of help (food stamps, HEAP (helps with electric bill) or whatever was available) since I have only been able to work 2 days a week since May. No work from the end of February to the end of May (when I had my stroke). I've exhausted all of my savings and have closed out both of my retirement plans. I'm taking home about $128/week, but I can't receive any social service help because I am making too much money for a single person. I've never collected any disability (but have paid in for 32 years), but I'm not eligible for that either because I'm currently trying to work 2 days a week. So, please tell me where the system works?
My hard earned tax dollars aren't helping me in my time of need, but some lazy 20 year old something with 2 kids who has never worked a day in her life gets ALL the creature comforts. WTF is wrong with this picture!!!!
Felicie?
Do you not want to answer?
Seems odd that you would make comments like you did without being willing to back them up with some facts....or at least discuss them?
I wasn't slamming, complimenting, demeaning or condescending to anyone ksech. I was simply stating the way I see it you know, my opinion which everyone keeps saying we have a right to. I also have the opinion that the tension here isn't all politically based. It might have a little something to do with the male ego(s) again just my opinion.
There really is no intention to be "fatherly" on my part at all although I find the suggestion amusing.
I've learned from experience on the forums that abuse, insult and discourtesy rarely make for a productive conversation or debate, and in fact often detract from it.
A little self-control and consideration of how an outburst might be perceived by someone else can go an awful long way to keeping a sensible conversation on the rails, even on emotive topics like politics.
I, too, hope that greasemonkey returns - his viewpoint might jar with some folks, but he always provides a basis for his opinions.
