Review of the new MG games (April 2007)

Like last month this is a small release with just 3 new games. One is just another powerplay(10 hands) version of an allready existing video poker game (Double Double Bonus Poker). Then there is a new fruit slot and finally a new video slot. So it is exactly like last month, however the "Hitman" slot from last month was one of the better slots in a very long time. I was asked if my classification for "Hitman" as medium variance was correct since it seemed high variance. In the start I agreed it was between medium and high variance, but after playing it some more I am now sure medium is the correct classification and it is nowhere near high variance. I forgot to mention that MG seems to have learned from the enormous blunder they made in "Prime Property" by having the scatters as dead symbols during the free spins. In "Hitman" they have at least removed them during the free spins. And I have kept "Hitman" as #3 on my favorite slot list.

I will only review the video slot, as always. But I should mention that I found the new fruit slot "Pub Fruity" more interesting that most
fruit slots. But I do not like fruit slots since they really are 'rigged'. The reels are not weighted in anyway, they are just showing
wins determined by unknown algorithms. So actually calling it a fruit slot is misleading since it is actually just 'lottery'.

    Life's a beach
    20 lines(The new MG 20-line definition)
    Low variance

The intro movie is better than average and also gives you a hint that this is another 'adult'-like themed slot, and they are very welcome in my opinion.

It is a new slot and the mechanics are:

Non-expanding wilds appear on reel 2,3,4 only. And they do not multiply wins.
3 Scatters or more starts a standard boring 'picking game'. In the bonus game you pick 4 out of 6 umbrellas. Each reveal a prize (and a girl). Most prizes are just a few times bet size. Highest I saw was 25 times*bet size in one umbrella. So after the 4 picks the average total price you win will very often just be within the 20-30*bet size range. So it is not very exciting at all, you know what you will end up with and there are no surprises whatsoever.

The graphics are good (as always) and there is a few new sounds as well. Also it has the old 9TJQKA symbols, but at least they look like they have been drawn in the sand at the beach.

It is a low variance slot. The bonus rounds will rarely play much. The paytable is really low and with no wild-multiplier. 5 scatters only pay 150*bet size. The high pay symbol does pay 12000*line-bet, but I can also say it will be really hard to get. There is only 1 of those symbols on reel 5 (and no wilds also on reel 5).

The problem with this slot is the design/mechanics which are just boring and seen so many times before. I can not understand why MG would waste time developing those boring slots. They will not attract new customers for sure, but maybe the few 100 spins existing customers will waste on them, is
worth this boring slot. And even more people will start saying MG slots are all the same and boring, which many of them are indeed. And it makes it
harder to find the good ones for new players.

I can say for sure I will never play this slot again even though the graphics are nice and it is 'adult' themed.

    My favorite MG slots

Wow. That is one boring slot! The bonus game sucks, even though I had a couple good wins on it I was still bored to tears. The graphics aren't great and the bonus game trigger guy is about as cheesy as cheesy gets! Why, oh why are the girls always sexy and the guys always lame?! We women want some eye candy too, damnit!

I concur Zoozie. Tried it but won't be going back. Loving Hitman though in fairness

I think you want "Thunder From Down Under" to be found at Crypto casinos.

I'm not really in to Crypto. I don't know why, just never really enjoyed their slots. I play once in a while in free mode and never really get the same kind of enjoyment as I do playing microgaming. If microgaming doesn't smarten up and give me some decent eye candy soon I might have to switch to Crypto regardless

zoozie and simmo, while i generally agree with your reviews and opinions on games, i agree with most of them barring one. I just have NO idea why you like hitman lol I agree it can have its moments albeit very briefly, but apart from the razzmatazzle graphics which to be honest become tedius and annoying after a while i fail to see why you rate this slot so highly. Sure i know it has the potential to pay out big and i have had a few medium size wins but on the average this slot pays terribly! On most slots free spins coming out is somethging to lok forward to, on hitman its like oh look another 18 spins, ill probs get 5 times my bet :S whoopee lol There is certainly NO contest in terms of enjoyment between prime property for example which i think personally is the best release in months for MG and the payouts on prime blows hitman into the water. After reading the hitman thread i feel the majority side with this view as opposed to the few who find it a good slot.

Actually while I agree the free spins can be rather, erm, "uninspiring" at times, the best bonus is the green bonus thingy which can reward very nicely. Also, did you know, if you click on the screen during animations, it fast-tracks them to save time I wasn't sure on Hitman at first (graphics aside) but the more I play it, the more I like it. Horses for courses i guess and this discussion is probably why MG release so many slots

lol simmo, I agree the theme of the slot is very good, multiple bonuses, inspiring graphics etc, but for me i just cant get a bean out of it lol As for the green bonus yeah i can see how you can make a mint of it If it plays well. unfortunatly for yours truly ive never seen it give a value any higher than base line and ive had the bonus often lol Ill pass on this one but glad to hear it treats you right, Expletive expletive expletive lol

Totally agree with the first bit (S)Hitman - bonus rounds have the potential to pay big, but vary rarely seem to do so. In fact, the best wins I've had were from the enigma logo scatter picks!
But don't agree about (C)rime Property - you hardly ever hit any decent wins and most of the 3 or even 4 of a kind payouts are pathetic. So even in the free-spins with a good multiplier you still need to be very lucky indeed to get a reasonable return...

This might work in manual mode (never tried it) but it definitely does not in AutoPlay mode. I've tried clicking everywhere on the screen like a mad idiot, but nothing shortcuts the graphics for me...

Zoozie: Thanks for another great review of another piece of crap we don't want which will soon be downloading 8-10 copies onto my hard-drives....
