IGT and DoubleDown, which it sold to DoubleU Diamond in June 2017, have now [August 2022] announced that they will settle this lawsuit. IGT will contribute $269.8m and DoubleDown $145.25m into a $415m settlement fund.
IGT said that under the terms of the settlement, all members of the class action who do not exclude themselves will release all claims relating to the subject matter of the lawsuit.
Subject to final court approval of the settlement of the Benson v DoubleDown Interactive LLC et al lawsuit, IGT and DoubleDown have also resolved all indemnification and other claims between themselves and their respective subsidiaries and affiliates relating to the case.
The whole point of this was Google facilitated the payments between a "social casino with fake chips that can't be ever withdrawn". So therefore to find out who actually paid for fake chips, they queried google to find out who bought these chips. To include them in a class action settlement so folks can get reimbursed for buying "useless chips' for "illegal online gambling".I am a bit confused, do you use your google account to play anywhere????
Exactly why I have had my own private email address using my own domain name since 2006. Of course have several gmail accounts, my main one being 20 odd years old when it first launched, but never ever do I use it for correspondence. And it's your private email and website.
Actually this has nothing to do with the free side of google, it was the fact we used Google Pay. My google account isn't a gmail one it's tied to my personal domain. Yet my account got notice too, it's mainly anyone who made a purchase of chips using the app. I admit I for a while paid for the kitty cat club feature, so that's why there asking for my information because I was a paid customer at one point. Considering this is a Washington thing I'm not sure why there asking for information on folks outside of the state of Washington. Yet I'm sure I'll get a lovely snail mail or e-mail about it soon. It's really sad what has happened to the Internet. It used to be that you buy a unique domain name, and set up your email accounts with that domain as well. Maybe total of $30 for the domain, then $5 a month for hosting. That's it. And it's your private email and website.
But everybody wants something for free, and that's where google, yahoo, hotmail etc., etc., etc., all come in. And if it's for free, YOU ARE THE PRODUCT, and it is your email on somebody else's website. Thus, they can hand over your email and content to anyone.
Good luck with that.
