I asked the question because I was wondering how many people who gamble actually do own their own homes... or paying it off etc.
I am now 45... turned 45 just afew days ago actually.
When I was a young swan once upon a time, I had made bad decisions, choices and sometimes these things sting you in the butt time and time and time again for a long long time and some more.
Now things have changed a fair bit with life experiences and age, maturity your prospective in life changes and so does your wants/needs, dreams and so on.
Had I known now what I know, my life back then would have been fairly different and I would be in a better position in life today then I am.
And as my father would say (passed away not long ago & I miss you Dad) is "Shit Happens" I swear i think he was the one who created that phrase or made it a popular used one
Now we are a family of 6, 2 adults, 4 children, though technically you could say 3 children as my oldest daughter is now 19 still at home and most likely will be for some years to come.
We rent, we have a miserable $5k in savings and wanted our Dream which the dream came far to late in life to achieve, our family home.
With paying rent, your normal every day bills, food, and all kinds of random expenses especially with children the savings side of things is little too none and seldom enough too become fruitful I guess.
Reality hit me, just recently, and in a BIG way to the point it hurt so much and is a constant ache that refuses to go away now.
That we will never acquire a home to buy, older we get less chance for a home loan, less chance for savings to use for a deposit you need something like 20% thats Huge for a property of around $360k
Huge when the market is flooded with investors buying it up and all issues of property to get into it that is happening in Aus anyway.
Sometimes you just realize things far too damn late in life.
I could go on and on, but really no point.
However the point here is one that is simple, and it is too anyone much younger then myself and in a good position financially or similar scenario's and have not thought to buy a house or apartment etc..
Don't leave it too long, and don't waste your money and be stuck in a loop later on, and one you can never get out of!!
I know of some people much younger then myself who throw their money away and alot in gambling too who could easily save decent amounts and be better of in the later years of live but
are not thinking far enough into the future to make better decisions now, for much later on.
Be a wise Padewon and think far into your own future!!
