This isn't as bad as the one from Virtual Group a few years ago but still Tacky imo !

Dear laurie,

On September 11, 2001 our lives and our nation were changed forever. Today we commemorate this day for many reasons, and at Grand Prive we dedicate this day to remembrance.
•We remember those that were taken from us.
• We remember friends and families who were left weakened.
•We remember and mourn people that we've never met.
• We remember every rescuer that gave their lives to save others.
•We remember the fire and the ash.
•We remember the last phone calls.
•We remember to thank those whose memory kept us from falling down.
•We remember how flags were hanging from porches all across America.
•We remember how strangers became friends.
•We remember that it brought the best out in all of us and our nation.
•We remember that we grew stronger.
•We remember to rejoice in the spirit & resolve of America.

We remember.

I find this so distasteful !!!

Laurie( already a Patriot )

Don't do it.

Their Ted Bundy bonuses have lower wage requirements and you can get ongoing bonuses during black plague week.

It's no better really than the Virtual one. Apart from the detail, it's still a "let's celebrate 9/11 by enjoying ourselves through self indulgence" rather than setting aside the usual pleasures to remember the 3000 odd people who turned up for work that morning, but never came home.

They seem to think that a poem of remembrance at the start of the email somehow makes it OK.

Looks like Grand Prive are keen to get one of CMs coveted awards at the end of the year, I wonder which one it might be:rolleyes:

this is still a day of mourning for me and I did not have any relatives/friends but watching the news and remembering the horror will just make it a sad day forever. Just dont know how this can be use as promotional material is beyond me!

It IS in poor taste. I don't know what people are thinking sometimes.

It's like selling t-shirts that say "I was in Hurricane Katrina and all I lost was this stupid t-shirt."

Or model kits of the space shuttle Challenger are impossible to assemble.

There are some things you just don't try to capitalize off of.

Maybe they'll have Blitzkrieg bonus day and offer a whole bunch of lightning round bonuses and then one big Hiroshima bonus at the end.

Sometimes you just shake your head.

I would be shocked more if I found out that the site that runs this distasteful 'promotion' was owned/managed or staffed by Americans or Britons (who were second on the list of national casualties on 9/11). Never mind 'Patriot Bonus' - a true patriot would e-mail them back telling them where to stick the offer and request a public apology before they shut their account.

I find it staggering that they can treat 9/11 the same as they would Thanksgiving Day or Christmas Day.

Grand Prive sees the US as their main market, they even ditched Microgaming and risked the wrath of Kahnawake by blatantly disregarding their licensing rules so that they could hang on to their US players after MGS pulled the plug.

I think all right minded players should remember 9/11 by the ceremonial and solemn uninstallation of all Grand Prive casinos, even if this means depriving themselves of some self indulgence on 9/12, 9/13, etc

Affiliates could replace all Grand Prive banners (that's if they have any left after the other thing they did when MGS pulled the plug) with links to sites accepting donations for the victims of 9/11, and then forget to swap them back again on 9/12.

This has to be a classic management 101 example of how to piss off the maximum number of your customers with the minimum amount of effort (could even be the award title for CM awards 2013/14).

I hope Bryan will take notice of your statement above , they truly deserve that award.

They clearly tried to play on the emotions of American players on what is a somber date in our history and even around the globe, we DO remember and do not need a crap hole casino trying to make financial gain from the loss of so many lives.

If an American wrote or had something to do with that promo , he or she is no patriot but pure SCUM in my book !

Laurie

Noted

Perhaps on the 27th of April they will have a special slots tourney for Holocaust Remembrance Day - where you can win up to 6 million coins on your favorite slot game!

I guess profiting off of a global tragedy is just something one has to expect in this business. It's not the first time.

My Take

I can imagine the management meeting on that one, the Senior Manager blurts out some rhetoric on social understanding and ways to show the company are more than just a Casino and have an understanding of the hearts and minds of fellow patriots. The Senior Manager explains a personal experience of the events 9/11 and goes on to explain they are running a once a year promotion that would connect with the clientele. He goes on to explain that they will be offering free bonus spins on a slot.

Meanwhile the cell phone rings and the Senior Manager tells the members of the meeting that he needs to take the call as there is a major issue with a software provider. The members of the meeting calmly busy themselves with other agendas on the schedule and maybe secretly eye each up on the decision.

However a middle management member takes it upon themself that the idea is sound and good to go and leaves the meeting, quickly drafts the content of the promotion and instructs the promotional emails to be sent.

A little later the middle management person returns just as the Senior Manager clicks the end of call button on the cell phone and says “Okay where were we, oh yeah we will be offering free bonus spins on a slot and anyone that signs up will be donating all their wins to [insert] charity”.

Pretty much just as bad as the initial thinking on the promotional email but perhaps a tiny bit more palatable.

Maybe , maybe not !!

All these online casinos know what is taboo and what isn't and that any offer like the one sent out would lead to utter uproar from players all over the world.

They have had 12 years to look at studies that show that 9/11 is a sad date and casinos should not try to get financial gain out of a tragedy, clear and simple !

They mentioned everything in that first statement except for" Mom baking apple pies and setting them out on the window ledge to cool off"

It was an emotional ploy and it backfired just like all the other casinos that attempted this over the past 11 years, they can sell it as they want but in the end it is pure GREED !!

Laurie

not only is it disgraceful but the segway is awful to.

I was a casino dealer on a cruise ship with predominantly American passengers on 9/11, 2001
We opened the casino on schedule and dealt blackjack and other games to the players all day and night.

I was disgusted.

My only form of protest was to remain silent for the whole day instead of being my usual, talkative, entertaining self.

These are people that dream up ways to further enhance their business and gain net profit, I am sure they sleep soundly at night after the day in the office.

After all they are just like us, people that just are doing a job?

It’s not personal it’s just the bottom line, at any cost.

It kind of makes you think of where your disposal income may be better spent?

Besides the crass and utterly abhorrent use of promo material tagged onto the 9/11 event, is the fact that nary a person working at GP is a US citizen (as far as I know). All this "Patriot" crap is exploitation at its worse.

It would certainly add insult to injury IMO
