I just upgrade win8 to win 8.1

Now I try to install Jackpot Capital and Slotastic.
The program downloaded , however there was no installation of the shortcut on to my desktop
and I have been trying the last 2 days to see how to "run" the program.

Grant you , I probably saved a lot of money over the weekend but I would still like to know if anyone here in geekland could help with any suggestions

Before the upgrade I had put the shorcut to the 2 sires in the recylebin I access them by restoring qhen I am ready to use them. Apparently during upgrade all files and programs were deleted.

I had a few other sites on my desktop like inet and bovada which i never use and they are still there.

Any suggestion will be appreciated

If go to your desktop tile, click on the folders, you will see an icon called downloads. It's probably in there.
Granted if you only moved the short cuts and not removed the actual programs.
You can go into your folders, click on my computer, click your C: drive, click on program files (x86), and see if the casinos are still installed.

For now my upgrade went fine, the only thing I can't find is the Facebook app icon, that I supposedly installed. Otherwise no real major complaints yet.

Right now I dont have a "folder" pic on my desktop
However, I think I can find the c drive (ran into it accidentally) Will try to find I almost unistalled win 8.1 and go to win7 Its frustrating
thanks again will let ypou know

You probably know this anyway but if you swipe in from the right edge and use the Search tool, just start typing the casino and it will come up. You could also add it to the Start Screen if you wanted.

This tutorial is good:

Granted off topic but just upgraded kicking and screaming I'll add, from XP to Win7. Sure there are lots of improvements and my system specs were not being utilised to their full potential with XP but it seems Win7 and going forward the OS is idoit proofed. I like to tinker and tweak, doing that in XP was easy. It's not so straight forward in Win7, though I have managed to disable a lot of useless and unused resources being loaded by default. Don't mind the ReadyBoost which I've implimented, programs which hog ram, now load and operate noticably faster. I am however still dreading upgrading to Win8 :D

Staying off topic ;) (apologies to the OP)....

I am sitting here with an XP machine and a Win 7 DVD dreading doing that. Was there anything odd happened? I assume one needs to backup all ones data and restore it all after? I am most worried about whether my network drives get picked up after as that''s where the important stuff is.

Hi I am still trying to download some sites!

I finally found file folders and the downloads

In the listings I see the setup files not the actual program" After about 20-30 "clicks" not at the same time jackpot capital finally downloaded

I tried the same tbhging but the other site slotastic just wont "catch"

In fooling around with the windows 8.1 I can see why some folks love it. It has so many tricks to it but it will be along toime before nI can master it

For example it took me 3 days to get skype to work But once you know the shortcuts to find the programs its neat..I am no lover of microsoft but i can see the advantages of win8 and so forth

One last question Can I redownload 8.1 and how?

For users still on XP please know support will end early next year, you are then on your own.

You probably need to use the windows upgrade advisory tool for Win 7, attach all the peripherals you use to see if they are compatible. They probably are.

Links to other languages will be present of course.

Win 7 is far better with networking and the need for port forwarding with some complicated applications is supported natively.

Biggest waste of time ever. All it does is what one press of the Windows Key or a swipe-in does. Whoever complained about that going missing is seriously change-averse LOL.

xhttp://windows.microsoft.com/en-gb/windows/download-shop - might be what you want if it's not available through your "store" button

Thanks - I done it now. Took > 24 hours (windows, restores, apps, imac oddites etc).....lol!!Actually you say Win 7 is better networking but it's so slooooow connecting to files on network drives.

It was the biggest gripe that normal users had and Microsoft bowed to public pressure :)

There are many and varied ways as why this can happen, mostly they don't but the OS has to cope with such varied hardware and software combinations unlike Apple products it is a wonder how generally it is successful. Probable windows updates still coming down won't help matters.

Maybe this link will help narrow down the problems.

The old try one to see if it works and reverse if not strategy seems wise. System restore in Windows 7 is much better than with XP so it is your friend here.
