Simmo!
I attended the Webmbley date on that tour. Very good, but as a long time fan previous, i attended their "smaller" gigs at Hammersmith Odeon, a muvh more personal venue and much much better. The atmosphere was unbelievable back on the early tours and the sweat just poured off you.![]()
Hey Simmo!, which tour (to what album) was the earliest that you'd seen? I would have liked to have seen them around the time they had released "Black Celebration", or even prior to that. Aside from "Music For The Masses" (DM 101) and "Violator", Depeche Mode never really caught-on in North America (like a U2 of a Duran Duran... who had more radio success... whereas DM was more of an underground thing for college kids), although they were certainly huge everywhere else. I suppose that could have had something to do with the hard-rock/heavy-metal movement of the mid/late '80s (in the U.S./Canada).
