    Gambling - Honest Discussion Time

    After reading another thread

    http://www.casinomeister.com/forums/...g-rainbow.html

I came to the conclusion that a LOT of us may have been in similar situations or close to it.

So I thought maybe if I asked some serious questions - it would enlighten me to the reality (if folks answered honestly)

    So here are my questions:

    1) Are you HONEST about YOUR gambling with your family and friends?

    2) Do you play to WIN or do you play for ENTERTAINMENT?

    3) Do you use anything to manipulate your winnings?
Regardless if it is legal or not) --- and this answer can be ANYTHING - such as an autoclicker - or some program... You do NOT have to be specific --- AND ANSWERING YES ---- does NOT make whatever you use ILLEGAL and I WILL NOT JUDGE you on this answer - OK? Cause you could even say - YEAH - I USE VOODOO to make me win --- OK? I just am looking for any outside interference or belief or action or tool usage other than just YOU... OK?

    4) Do you OFTEN spend over your budget? (and do you have a budget?)

    5) Do you ever promise anyone else that you WILL NOT gamble?

    6) When you win - do you often gamble most of the winnings back?

These might be some touchy topics - I was just trying to see how others operate - and openly discuss some things.

It bothered me (the above thread) but only because I once was in that position - and I think that if he is in that position and I was in that position - that it is probably likely that others have been or will be in that position - and I wanted to know if there are steps that can help others stay away from that situation?

    Yanno?

Any further talk about it - I would love to hear it - if you have any other discussion on the matter - please... Talk to me! LOL!

I love talkin - if ya haven't figured that out. LOL!

    WW

    1) Yes
    2) Both
    3) No. Used to use an autoclicker sometimes in tourneys but I hardly play tourneys anyway so I stopped using it.
    4) Yes and yes
    5) No
    6) Sometimes.

I'm a full-time carer for my disabled there isn't much to do when is alseep. I also suffer from insomnia so when I get bored I sometimes gamble.

EDIT: Great idea for a thread. It could open some people's eyes to the extent of their problem (I'm not saying anyone here HAS a problem but there may be someone and this thread could really help them)

Here are my answers just in case:

    1) Are you HONEST about YOUR gambling with your family and friends?

    2) Do you play to WIN or do you play for ENTERTAINMENT?

Mostly for Entertainment, but sometimes I have a gut feeling I might win - and I will HOPE and HOPE and HOPE I will win - but give up after awhile. But I've never believed that I was going to win - and imagined the money and the things I would do with it to the extreme that I PLAY to WIN.

OK?

Uhm... I have little things I do - like I hold my breath when I spin sometimes (LOL) or something - and maybe I have some superstitions about clicking so many times in a row on some games... LOL - but other than that - nah - don't have anything else I use or have as a tool.

    4) Do you OFTEN spend over your budget? (and do you have a budget?)

I used to spend over my budget REGULARLY. But since I don't have an unlimited budget any longer - I have cut back quite a bit - and have stayed MOSTLY within that budget COMPLETELY. (only cause I don't have much of a choice... LOL!) But even spending over my budget it wouldn't be very much - for example if I budgeted 500.00 --- I might spend an extra 100.00

    Or whatever would be equivalent.

    5) Do you ever promise anyone else that you WILL NOT gamble?

I did once. And I will NEVER do it again. It was the worst feeling going back and gambling because I WANTED to - and breaking that promise. At the time - I made the promise to keep the peace. But I WILL NEVER promise anything that I cannot guarantee again.

    6) When you win - do you often gamble most of the winnings back?

Hmmm... Since I RARELY - if EVER win - and EVEN more RARELY cash out - I would have to say yes to this.

    Ok - your turn.

Awesome Pauly - I was just sitting there thinking and it was bothering me a little.

I would say that I AM a gambler - but that my PROBLEM days are way behind me.

Such as a Teenager who goes binge drinking when they are 17 at all the frat parties... Now since they are older and "wiser" only drinks one or two glasses of wine - because it just doesn't interest them - or just doesn't fit into their lifestyle --- At First I went HOG WILD - then - OOOPSIE - fell down hard...

    Then learned my lesson. LOL!

But I got up dusted myself off - and realized even though I fell hard - it wasn't the gambling that caused the fall - it was MY idiocy that did.

I too, have insomnia - and find that gambling when I cannot sleep is awesome! LOL! Sad but true...

Yeah this is a touchy one Witch,

Here goes to the best of my ability.

(1)- yes to my friends- no my Girlfriend ( legit reason why though, well in my mind anyway)

(2)- I can only answer that as both, most times entertainment but the same as you- I get that feeling and will deposit based on that.

(3)- No beliefs or anything like that, just gamble for fun, all Aussies love a punt.

(4)-Yes in the past I did, now I get paid and the money goes into katherine's (my partners) account so she pays the house repayments, credit cards etc- out of $1900 per fortnight that I get I will give her $1600-$1700 and keep the rest for fuel smokes etc and then have a punt.

(5)- Yes unfortunately, it is not more saying I wont but I dont tell her when I do as she hates me doing it0 but mind you she doesnt mind spending 100's on shoes, bags and 3 pairs of $100 shoes a month for the baby.
And I know she doesnt tell me where ALL the money goes- I see new clothes in the cupboard that havent been worn yet or the new watch or the new something so I feel it is a two way streak

(6)- Shit yeah, but it depends on the size of the win- it is is 4 figures then it goes on bills, anything less than $500 I will leave in the webwallet and use it over a period of time- but then I dont deposit using my own money so its a win win.

    1) Are you HONEST about YOUR gambling with your family and friends? yup

    2) Do you play to WIN or do you play for ENTERTAINMENT? both

    3) Do you use anything to manipulate your winnings? just my thoughts...lol

    4) Do you OFTEN spend over your budget? (and do you have a budget?) sure, and sure

    5) Do you ever promise anyone else that you WILL NOT gamble? nope

    6) When you win - do you often gamble most of the winnings back?
depends how high the win is, and if I just won at another casino

You know what's funny....before I found online gambling I used to scratch lottery tickets and when my husband went to my father to ask for his approval to marry me (yes he did that...LMAO) my father told him that I like to gamble....so there was never a time in my life where I had to lie about gambling, all my family and friends new about it.

I HAVE however lied how much I spent when I was first married and maxed out a credit card, my husband almost left me.
    Christmas is coming fast!!!

Same for me lol except that for (1) everyone knows of my gambling habits but in the past I did not disclose to them how much I bet, or rather lost. In the past few years, I still gamble on the same things but the amount is only roughly about 5% of what they were. Surprisingly, I still get the same level of entertainment and excitement so I am very comfortable with my gambling habits now.

I live in a place where people are not exactly open-minded. Despite doing quite well at work, many people in high positions frown on people who gamble. On several occasions I was told that the upper management did not like me gambling on horse-racing and mahjong though I can honestly tell you this had no effect whatsoever on my work. It's just that they heard that I am a gambler and they dont like it. Different people have different habits. I cant see why I should not gamble when some pour their life savings in the stock /property market. Cynical people with fu##ing attitudes.

    Sorry for the rant guys.

I agree chuchu59, I have probelms with people spending sometimes hundreds of dollars on fine wine and dinners every week.. and maxing their cards out with thise dinners.. That is MUCH worse than gambling, at least in gambling you have a chance of a return...but when you eat and drink, it all goes down the toilet....without any kind of chance for a return unless your toilet backs up! And they have the nerve to tell me how to spend my fun money...sheesh...talk about dumb..

    1) Are you HONEST about YOUR gambling with your family and friends? Yes but regret it now for whenever finances come up, you get that all knowing eye thing from them. Strangers don't typically make a note in your file (typically)

    2) Do you play to WIN or do you play for ENTERTAINMENT? To win and that is very entertaining but sometimes I do get a little more serious and will start at slot #1 and slowly work my way thru till I find one that give out. Most of the time though it's hit and run. 'well that was fun - now what should I do?'

    3) Do you use anything to manipulate your winnings? well from what I am learning here at CM, bonus' are considered manipulating and by the way will not be using them anymore except at certain casinos with super low WR that I know wont use them against me later. I keep reading 'manipulate your winnings', you mean something to help increase your chances of winning right? cause thats what I answered to.

    4) Do you OFTEN spend over your budget? (and do you have a budget?) Yes, I have a budget and have gotten pretty good at staying within funds allowed but am still working on being able to play a little every week instead of only the first couple of days of the month so am half way there I guess.

    5) Do you ever promise anyone else that you WILL NOT gamble? No.

    6) When you win - do you often gamble most of the winnings back? if you mean reverse cashout - yes in the beginning but not any more. If you mean after winnings are in your hands? No like last win bought my new computer. a small win goes right back in whereas a larger one I will honestly try to do something productive with it and even had a good balance in my savings acct. Had is the keyword.

I don't think Gambling ONLINE or in Vegas or using the stock market is much different EITHER.
