Admin note: this thread was my response to the "old" Plexgaming. Not to be confused with the new. :D

Besides several ways in which an a-hole can be described, an a-hole is someone who uses your brand or personification knowingly in order to profit.

I was notified by one of our members that there is a member at Twitter.com who is using "Casinomeister" as his handle:
xhttp://twitter.com/Casinomeister

and he even has the gall to post a link to his website:
xhttp://casinoplex.blogspot.com/
Where he is posting as "Casinomeister"

What a dick.

Anyway, I'll be contacting Twitter to have his account shut down. And I'll be contacting the affiliate managers of the casinos he's promoting to have his accounts shut down as well.

What a bloody waste of time.

It's actually a form of theft, exploiting the years that you have put in developing the reputation and content of the Casinomeister website, so this cretin deserves everything he gets.

Casinomeister is also a registered trademark, and this a-hole is knowingly violating this.

And this is the typical "evil webmaster" shit that keeps popping up. Stupid a-holes who are too damn lazy to do any work themselves and try to exploit the work of others. They fill the Internet with deceptive garbage just to make a couple of bucks.

They have no business ethics whatsoever, and yeah, they deserve everything they get.

What I'm getting tired of is Blackhat crap.

I work hard for my placement - and dangit - when some scum site that is just ads manages to pop up way ahead of me - it's like AGGGGGGGGG not freaking fair.

And it seems like the Rogues are the worst at it.

I just can't understand why people try to be sneaky and non-transparent when trying do business in this industry. There is no need, people need to understand there is plenty of "cake" for all.

Did the guy actually think this would not go unseen??? I mean, what was going through his head? Apparently nothing.

This is a true definition of an A-Hole (with a capital A!), another nice definition would be a - Shmuck.

I can't believe somebody would be that stupid, to try it with the Casinomeister "brand". Did the guy actually think you wouldn't find out? These "things" really do deserve what they get.....

As of a few minutes ago I am now on Twitter too, Link Removed ( Old/Invalid) , and have tweeted about the fake 'Casinomeister' person with links back to this. Also looking into how to report the fraudster.

...

Ok, 'impersonation' complaint filed at Twitter regarding the fake account. This person is in direct violation of Twitter Terms in that they are using the fake account to promote their own business interests (see 'Help Resources / Terms of Service and Rules policies / Impersonation Policy' at

You looked so poor with 0 follower that I felt it was my duty to be your first, and for the moment, your only follower.
Don't worry, this situation will change, you'll grow and soon you'll be a Big Twitter Boy.
Any other Twitter on CasinoMeister ?

PS
At the moment I was writting this post, I noticed I had a new follower....life is so big !

Thanks for the follow man, much appreciated.

For the other readers info Alexandre can be found on Twitter as Link Removed ( Old/Invalid) .

It's a pretty sorry situation when there are "rip-off" scumbags that will take advantage at every possible aspect of marketing regardless whether it's ethical or not.

I've already complained to both Twitter and Plexgaming. Anticipating a response...

Sorry BT, what is 'Thing'?

I think T is referring to the a-hole and whether or not he/she has an account on the forum.

I think T raised a good point. If it were me in Bryan's shoes, I'd ping Twitter and find out if they can/would release the IP addresses that this a-hole was posting from, and then compare those against the forum....maybe you'd get a hit, unless they were using AOL or something, then it'd be virtually untraceable.

Or, maybe they were dumb enough to use the same e-mail address to signup for Twitter and here...

I have a funny feeling that it is quite possibly a member of the forum pulling this stunt..maybe a lurker, maybe not.

Needless to say there is no useful info available via the fraudster's profile on Twitter. Official channels are probably the only hope for that kind of info.

I can

I can't believe somebody would be that stupid, to try it with the Casinomeister "brand". Did the guy actually think you wouldn't find out? These "things" really do deserve what they get.....

I think he did know that he would eventually get caught. Dude was just trying to ride it out with lots of tweets until then. That sucks. Hope he is shut down really quick:mad: If any cm members are on twitter, send out tweets about fake CM all over the place.

After searching around, I can say that the guy behind this is working for PlexGaming in order to promote CasinoPlex.com.
I'm almost sure of it because the Twitter account is linking pages (blogs, article directories, etc...) which link CasinoPlex.com without affiliate tracking.
As Twitter doesn't transfer PR (nofllowed links when they aren't also shortened TinyURLS wihout R301 linkjuice love), it's useless in terms of SEO. But it works fine in terms of social media especially when you see that this guy has almost 200 followers which he clearly fooled as the ID thief he is.
These people follow him because they think they are following the real CasinoMeister.
You can see there members of this forum, big names of the egaming industry, etc...
I don't know how Twitter handles this kind of problems but I know Facebook doesn't give a shit.
I hope you can get it back and if I was you I will open a Facebook account before the same happens there (CasinoMeister is not taken in FaceBook).

Thanks for this! By the way, you have to use a real (or a pseudo) first and last name at Facebook. You can dreate special pages for businesses and such though. I tried Casino Meister, and they rejected it :p

LATER: please note that this thing has been resolved, so contacting Twitter as requested below is no longer necessary. I'm leaving this here for the record.

For those of you who are following this Twitter issue you might be interested to note that the following was their reply to my 'Impersonation' complaint regarding the fake 'Casinomeister' guy on Twitter (my bolding):

Hey,

Thanks for your writing to us.

We investigated the account. If the username is available
and an user creates an account with that name there is no way that Twitter
can stop.
This user looks like he is inactive for more than a month or so
with no updates and profile image. So, it does not look like an
issue with impersonation.

We appreciate your cooperation

Thanks,
Keerthi

If you know Twitter at all you'll know that this is blatantly untrue. Twitter can and does close accounts that are fakes: a recent fairly famous example is the 'cwalken' imposter account where the guy was pretending to be Christopher Walken. That and other 'celebrity' fakes get shut down PDQ. Note the following section from

The following problems fall under Terms of Service violations:

* Copyright Infringement (To file a complaint, see our copyright infringement procedure here.)
* Impersonation
* Violence and/or specific threats
* Unlawful use
* Privacy infringement
* Trademark Infringement

Send all non-copyright Terms of Service complaints to [email protected].

As I read it all the bolded items apply in this case.

So, it looks like they might need a little convincing to do the right thing here.

If you're on Twitter and you have a few moments please consider filing an 'Impersonation' complaint:
You do not have permission to view link Log in or register now.
. In particular under 'Regarding' you want to select 'Terms of Service (Impersonation, Trademark, Copyright)'.

If you're having trouble thinking of what to say, this is what I used as the body of my complaint:
I have recently discovered an impersonation account here at twitter, namely 'Casinomeister'. This person is using this fake account to promote their own affiliate business interests without permission or approval from Casinomeister.com Casinomeister is a registered trademark and this twitter account is a direct violation of that. Please suspend this account since it is in violation of Twitter's Terms of Service.

Of course I'll be pursuing this with them but I think more voices would help things along nicely.

Let's help Twitter do the right thing!

Hmmm, looks like I've come up with another definition of an "a-hole".

I sent them a notice over 24 hours ago, but since I don't have a "Twitter" account, they haven't responded.

So who's been smoking the wacko weed?

Seriously, this is one of the things that is wrong with the Internet: behemoth companies that can easily be abused, and they disregard the rights of others (Hotmail, Twitter, Facebook, etc.,).

And their customer support consists of either automated responders or people with cornflakes for brains.

Yes, crappy support seems to be a feature of Twitter. My wife has been on Twitter for a while now: she's had a few issues, did the 'submit an issue' thing, and about half of them go completely unanswered.

Another cool 'feature' of Twitter support happened with my 'Impersonation' complaint: they give their lame-ass answer (if you're lucky) and then simply close your issue. No 'does that answer your question?' or anything. As it happens you can re-open the thing but the bottom line is that they just want you to piss off and let them carry on being famous, or whatever you want to call it.

I am reading through these posts, and honestly this is UNBELIEVABLE!
If it is a casino doing this (it is difficult to understand why a casino would even tread into these waters), then this is definitely not cool. What ever happened to transparency!!!

I personally am in favor of creating all social media accounts for CasinoMeister, I will definitely join, and I think it would be a great addition for CasinoMeister. But only when it is LEGITIMATE, not some schmuck who think he is an internet Einstein.

These is just my 2 cents.

PlexGaming takes action

Good morning all,

I just arrived this morning back in the office after flying back yesterday from my trip to CAC Amsterdam. (You see one day NOT online and sh.... hits the fan)

Bryan thanks for contacting me directly.

After I received Bryan's mail (15 minutes ago) I have taken action and closed down the Blog and the account on Twitter.

Bryan will now be able to handle (if he decides to do that) that account.

Excellent work! Thank you PlexGaming:

So how was Plexgaming able to get it shut down or was it theirs to begin with and they just simply closed their account there??

That does not make any sense at all how someone that was not even connected to that account could have it shut down...what's the scoop here?

So you are saying that Plexgaming was using the "Casinomeister" name there??

Plexgaming found the source and switched the account over to me. It was probably some over eager employee trying to drive some extra traffic using whatever means necessary. Bizzarre.

You can never be too careful when it comes to protecting your name and business in this industry, or in any other for that matter. There are nasty deceptive individuals around every corner.

Yep, that's what I figured it had to of been also, as they would not have had any control or recourse unless they (Plexgaming) were directly connected to that account in the first place.

Colosseum is doing basically the same thing to me right now on one of their own websites by using my blog name and a piece of an article without giving me a link back and I just discovered this the other day..

First off, kudos for responding to this issue so timeously.

But I would like to make the point that myself and possibly others on this thread are curious as to how this came about and who the idiot involved was?

This sort of person needs not only to be severely reprimanded, but also named and shamed to discourage other ethically-challenged clowns from trying the same sort of stuff.

He/she was obviously promoting Plex vigorously, raising the suspicion that he/she is either an employee or an affiliate... which suggests Plex has at least some information on him/her.

Can you throw a little more "insider" light on this matter, Plex?

I totally agree Jet, IMO this puts Plexgaming in a really bright light for public scrutiny as they had to be either operating this trademark infringed site on Twitter or at the very least knew who was and did not bother to do anything at all to correct or rectify this issue until it was brought out into the public light. I think Plexgaming owes one hell of an explanation to all of us regarding this blatant behavior!

Let' Twitt !

Come on ladies and gentlemen, what are you waiting for, open a Twitter account and add CasinoMesiter to the list of people you follow.
Now that you have a Twitter acount Bryan, you have to feed it.
I don't know if it's exactly what you wanted, more work....but also a fantastic promotion tool.

This is all I need - something else to do

Marketing

I'm glad this is resolved, the power of twitter is huge. I don't have proper permission to answer your question on viral marketing, I won't try since I'm not sure exactly what it means. I will just say that twitter is super powerful. I only opened my account because someone I trusted ask me to, Ellen D. In about a week she had over 300,00 followers. I only wanted updates on guests, etc.

Now Iv'e only got a few less than her, about 30, lol. The point is whenever I get a tweet on cell, email whatever, I send to my followers, who may send to theirs, and so on. If for whatever reason I would have gotten an email from you CM, I would have opened it without a second thought, and if my keyword from yo was say, bonus at accredited casinos, I'm certainly gonna pass it on to my network. Who knows where it goes from there.

Just curious, why was this put up in the first place?

As far as I know, some employee in the Bingo department thought it was a bright idea

I should come up with a new award category for this year's awards: "Office Einstein"

Sounds like their marketing department needs less freedom of activities and more supervision. An employee like that could cost them some money and hurt their reputation. Did they advise any followers that it was an act of fraud? Their excuse for this does not compute and I find the "our bad" approach to be flippant at best Any surge in marketing statistics would have been apparent and lots of pats on the back would have commenced.

I'm surprised that CasinoPlex appears to be comfortable with the perception that has been created that they are treating this gross breach of professionalism so lightly.

And pulling the wagons into a circle in the hope that it will just go away is not very smart either.

Well - it may have to do with Plex Gaming "changing" the name of the account from Casinomeister to Plexgaming, thus retaining the followers. They then set up a new account "Casinomeister" using my email address and thus I received the account.

What they ought to do is contact their "followers" and let them know they were duped. They thought they were following me when in fact it was Plexgaming.

This whole situation was a real shitty thing to do.
